I am a senior in high school, I hold 20 hours TT, 5 being PIC. Someday I hope those tiny numbers can be somewhere in the 4 digits. Recently, I traveled to Florida to visit 3 flight schools and I plan to visit Arizona to visit a few more this winter. What I want to do is attend an academy to earn my comm, and then instruct for a few years to my first regional airline job. I plan on earning a BA in business management online while I am instructing for several reasons. But, I feel that the airlines will frown upon an online degree instead of a traditional degree. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Companies do not frown upon online degrees as long as it is from an accredited university. Companies realize that people are busy these days and do not have time to sit in a traditional classroom. To me, it shows initiative and becomes a great answer to, "Tell us about a significant personal (or professional) accomplishment." The fact that you worked full time and also obtained a degree says a lot about your drive and ambition.

Good luck to you!

I agree with resume writer... contrary to what people may initially think, online degrees can actually be more work than the traditional classroom approach. I completed half of my masters online, and while it offered more flexibility, there was more work and time involved. I for one, would view an online degree from someone who also held a full time job as a significant accomplishment.
