One-way Tickets

Why are one way tickets so much more than round trip with few exceptions? Can airlines increase revenues by dropping this policy?

I dont know why everyone says this, I have 2 1-way tickets booked for dec and it was only 50-70% that of a RT airfare (DL/AA)

The one way tickets cost so much more so they can pay for the increased security screening harassment they do. Everytime I have a one way ticket I get extra screening.

Thats because they don't want you turning everyone elses tickets on the plane into a one way ticket to a smoking hole in the ground.

Quit your whining. Why are you paying for tickets? Who pays for tickets? Just get on the plane and smile!
