Anyone have any inside info on omniflight helicopters F/W operations? I have been sending resumes for a few months and have never heard anything but they still have the jobs open. Any help/insider info would be appreciated. Thanks
I sent a resume to the pilot recruiter and was called back the next week. Interviewed with their Cheif Pilot and Director of Ops yesterday. Very cool and laid back....seem like they run a great business and are plenty busy. Mostly helos but some fixed wind in Texas and New Mexico. Company I interviewed with is actually an entity owned by Omniflight. SW Air Ambulance. The Las Cruces base does not have an opening, they had a pilot out with a broken leg and he is coming back next week. The Roswell and Carlsbad bases are the ones that are open. Both are cool little towns. I was offered a job but there is another person who had already been hired who is going to chose between the bases. Whatever he doesnt want I will take. Decent pay, good bennies, 7on/7off, good aircraft....im pretty stoked. Pretty low turnover even before the airlines crashed....now im sure that guys will be stickin around even longer with less options out there. Looks like it will be a fun and interesting job.
Omniflight is feeling the crunch of the economy just like everyone else. Management has been very active in looking at unproductive bases and has shut down a few. All in all I feel the company will do fine and EMS is a solid bet when it comes to an aviation job. Well.....as solid as it can get. People always gonna need transport. Just need to be with the right company that is nimble and has good leadership. I think Omniflight has that.
Ive been working at one of the NM fixed wing bases for about six months and really enjoy it. We just added a helicopter to augment the fixed wing in Roswell and some other things are in the works around the area of NM and TX. Dont know what they are for sure but I do hear rumours.
Im busy as a beaver while im at work and thats good......paycheck came in today! Im happy with the job and I hope that we do grow and are able to put other pilots to work. Its a good place to be.
