I worked for Omni last year only doing the DOD flights. When filing taxes, does Omni fall under DOT pier diem or DOD pier diem? I've heard two conflicting stories and wondering if any Omni or World people can tell me. I apologize in advance if this has been already asked.

It will fall under the DOT per diem. You actually have to be a DOD employee to fall under their per diem.

Thanks for the reply. I did a little research and found this website:

http://www.state.gov/m/a/als/prdm/2001/4845.htm#civilian

If you scroll all the way down it shows per diem rates for "Civilian Personel Bullentin"

I ask this, because we were given DOD cards that indicated that we were "civilian" with a rank of 0-3 (Captain) and we were able to go on any Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine base on and off work. From what I can see, DOD has better rates than DOT.

Anyone have a opinion on this?

Still you did not work directly for the DOD. You as an individual have to be hired by a government agency to be considered a govt employee. Omni is a subcontractor for the govt. You worked for an airline that happens to do work for the govt but is not a govt entity. Does that make it a bit clearer?

Omni is not part of the govt. They only perform work for the govt. You worked for a civilian company. The only reason you got that ID card is so that if you were captured, you would be afforded the protections offered by the Geneva Convention. That ID card does not make you a govt employee.

Yes, you are full of dookie and afforded youself privileges not extended by that card.

Personnel that are issued that ID card are authorized PX/BX and commisary priviliges. The ID card is substantially different than regular DOD cards. The people checking ID cards at the door know the difference, and also know that they are allowed in. So relax.
