Does anyone know of any good jobs on the eastern half of the US?? i sent out tons of resumes in the last 3 months but have had no luck. I live near CVG but will move for the right job. Here are my times.. thanks for any info you might have to pass along

ATPPILOT
FLIGHT TIME

Total Time 5110 Turbo Jet 2540

Turbo Prop 480 Single-Engine 1370

Pilot-in-Command 3010 Multi-Engine 3760

Cross Country 371 Instrument 632

Night 860 Instructor 750

I'm merely a low-time private (ok, commercial license) pilot, but here's a suggestion I've picked up from years of lurking on this board:

Don't just shoot resumes out. Follow up with calls with the chief pilots. Bug the crap out of them. Hang out at every airport in a 50-mile radius with a runway long enough to handle a jet, and get to know the corporate flight departments and make sure they know you. Then update your resume with them every 100 hours. Show them you want the job.

I know a few corporate pilots, and they only hire people they know. Get so that they'll hire you just so that they'll stop bugging you!

Good luck!

If you want to fly 135 I would suggest maybe Active aero or maybe Kalitta charter. I think they are looking for people. Corparte still seems slow but I may be wrong on that one. Good luck!

The Limited Stores was hiring a while back. Great place. They're at Lane Aviation at CMH. Cheif pilot is a great guy (James Taylor). I don't know what your pay is like, or what you're looking for, but Airnet's Jetride seems to be hiring. I'm pretty sure NetJets is hiring too.

How do you only have 371 cross country hours with all of that experience?

the x-country time should be 4371 it was a cut and paste error. the problem i seem to have is that none of the small 135 prop operations will hire me because they all seem to be afraid with all the jet time i have i wont be around long enough to get the money out of me they spent on training me. Then all of the other jobs seem to want someone who is current in there airplane wich im not. oh well thanks for the replies maybe ill get lucky and someone will call soon.

Tough situation there dude! Don't focus so much on the negatives. You will get the job you want if you stay persistant and positive.

Maybe I'm missing something here but...

...why do you include X-C time in your resume? The only reason that I know of to do that is when you do not yet have your ATP and a company might be interested in how soon they could give it to you. It is a statement of qualification that serves no purpose unless a rating is required.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear that you're having so much trouble finding work with those numbers. I'd do some poking around at Fortune 500 companies. most have flight departments and some do occasionally hire to fill spots created by attrition of various sorts.

Good luck.

Tip:

On my resume I have only 3 flight time numbers: TT, PIC and Jet. (Would have been 4 but I have very little TP time). Underneath I printed "all other times furnished upon request". All the other stuff is useless information for potential resume reviewers in the first round. Makes the resume look more professional.

Sorry to hear you are having difficulty finding a job. Stick with it and, like Norskman said, walk down those doors at your local airfield. Good luck!

I hate to be the bringer of bad news but Limited in CMH filled their two positions a month or so ago. Good luck in your search. I think Cardinal Health in Columbus has a flight department. What about Comair?

man, if theres one thing ive learned about job hunting in aviation, its show up at the door. a whole lot more weight is thrown behind the resume when they can put a face with the name...good luck!

Any chance you made a typo on those times? For a civilian(non-navy) pilot 371 crosscountry out of 3000 turbine sounds way low!
