That article is complete bull ********************. When has 6 hours EVER entered into the equation for adequate rest? Its ALWAYS been 8 hours, hell its what the Fatigue Risk Management programs they are referencing are modeled on. Anything less than 8 hours adds to your sleep debt.

"pilots should plan their commutes and other pre-duty activities so they will not be up for more than 16 hours after they have completed their day's work"

So if the FAA says we can be on duty for 16 hours (faa regs not individual union contracts) then that leaves zero hours to dive to work (or home) let alone wake up (sh1t, shower, shave) and eat. wtf are we supposed to do? sleep/live in the plane.

F'in mensa - this is what happens when people who have no f'ing idea and no practical exp. in aviation start making rules or doing studies.

The report was probably chaired by some deadbeat-hippy clown at IU who doesn't have an M.D. Make no mistake, this guy was selected because for his "findings" well before the "study" had even begun. I've seen these "professors" in action where I went to school. They get some massive government grant to study some BS and that's how they survive. They wouldn't fare well at all in the real world. This guy probably has the telltale beard and pedophile glasses.

Pro-business lobbyists have again undermined the American worker. I tell you, this job just isn't worth anything anymore. I am so ready to get back to school and do something rewarding and not subject to microscopic inspection and peanut wages. Before you know it, there will be TV cameras in our hotel rooms and fatigue assessments done by minimum-wage rampies before going to work.

Keep calling in fatigued if it is dangerous to fly. The only way they'll react is after flights are cancelled. Fill out ASAPs and get the FAA involved.

Why not? Wasn't that what Mesa was having thier crews do on short overnights?

SO what happens when you get fired?

How about the guys that love the stand up overnights, fly 22 hours actual, get 97 hours credit.

I did 6 hrs of solid sleep the other night. Next morning I had 5 legs. But the start of the forth I was yawning frequently, had difficulty concentrating and scored very low on my " give a crap" scale. Lucky the 5th leg was a deadhead.
What we need is some senators family on our last flight of the day into crappy conditions. Let them sit up front and watch.

I was gonna do it, but was too tired......
Nevermind!
PBR
