I am in the early stages of planning a trip from the NY metro area to Bermuda, then to the Virgin Islands and need some advice from those that have done it before.

We will be in a Citation 500 series with a RVSM/MNPS/WTRS LOA with the required comm and survival equipment.

What I am looking for is customs info, flight service info when on Bermuda. The owner does not want to spend ANY time in Bermuda- just get gas and go.

1. How quick is customs in Bermuda?
2. If we never left or opened the door to the aircraft and pre arranged payment for fuel and services would we have to clear customs in Bermuda?
3. Phone number for customs in Bermuda?
4. Phone number for Bermuda flight service?

Thanks for your help.

I’m not trying to provoke an argument or anything but if you are just planning a tech stop, why Bermuda?

Seems kind of an odd place just to stop for gas.

Why not just fly down to FLL, PBI or even some place closer to you say SAV or JAX, stop for gas the jump off to St. Thomas?

Are you that range limited?

Was in Bermuda a few weeks ago in a Lear. VERY cheap gas - I think it was around 1.75/gal or so BUT they hit you with a considerable "handling fee." Call your local FSS for the numbers as they have about every phone number in the world. The service in Bermuda was quite good, which wasn't surprising considering the amount of GA traffic they handle.

PS: Need a co-pilot for the trip??? I'm Citation current , have been all over the Carribean, plus I look really good in my pink thong bathing suit. :)

It is a more direct line from NY to Bermuda and then down to the islands.
Just trying to save some time.
We have done the NY- Miami- TIST trip a number of times and I am exploring other options.

If we could go non stop from NY to the islands, with a safe reserve, we would. The stop is stricly for fuel.

Thanks

I was there a few months ago. Two night RON. Customs was quick for the 6 pax - both in and out. Don't know how they would handle you for a gas and go as far as customs goes.

The people there are very friendly and helpful. There is no FBO per say, just the airport operations office. They will coordinate everything for you - even filing the flight plan on-line. They'll also let you get on-line yourself - if you find it necessary.

I believe the numbers in the international ACCU-Quik are up to date. Call them directly to answer your questions about gas and go and customs.

C550 two night RON, customs, handling, etc, etc came to $986.00 - not cheap - you might want to check on those charges for a gas and go.

Good luck and have fun.

I was in Bermuda a few weeks ago for a pick up and were delayed about 30 minutes for fuel. I was told the airlines have priority over corporate. If an airline lands prior to you or right after you, expect a possible fuel delay.

Bermuda is a fine fuel stop fro TIST

Got to PBI then TIST from NY??? whats that guy thinking?....anyways..

I used Bermuda as a tech stop many times going to Islands in Learjet from NY area....
Customs is non-existant. FBO is good, but I ditto that fuel deal....if an airliner is getting fuel you may wait. Once I had to taxi over to the airline terminal....but max wait I had was 20-25 mins....

No delays in or out of Bermuda and unrestricted climbs. I rate it a fine fuel stop!!!

Customs

Under ICAO rules, if you file your fuel stop as a technical stop, you shouldn't be bothered by Customs or immigration. The Key word here is shouldn't.

Hey, in TXKF Aircraft Services Bermuda (ASB) is great. If you have any questions about customs there ask for Mikel. I am pretty sure he is the manager, we have alot of flights go there and I dont recall ever having a problem. I have never been there but I used to do all the planning. Good luck!!! CYA
