For you nwa military leave guys, Does Northwest allow you to keep flight benefits when on military leave?

Pass Travel benefits

It's my understanding that we retain pass travel benefits through 31 dec 2008. Don't know all the details as I do not plan to use the benefit.

Cheers

can you jumpseat while on military leave?

Ahh, a very good question...

While on military leave, you can continue to jumpseat but you will not have access to the cockpit on offline careers while on greater than 30 days straight leave (you're kicked out of CASS). This is a TSA act and it affects all carriers. I'm currently on military leave in my squadron along with quite a few guys that are employed at other carriers (I'm with CAL). We've got guys @ B6, FDX, DAL, UAL, SWA, and CAL. We're all up the same creek - except for the UAL guys. For some reason they're still active in CASS. We don't have any NW folks so for them, I'm not sure.

I'll usually go up to the gate agent and explain the situation when I try to j/s with other carriers. I have not had a problem with it, however it is quite painful to explain to them because they're usually very perplexed on why you're not in CASS. Hope this helps...

NWA guys also get dropped from CASS on long term mil leaves.
