A Northwest Airlines plane made an emergency landing at Springfield-Branson National Airport this morning after a pilot suspected hydraulic problems.

Shawn Schroeder, the airport's assistant director of aviation, said the plane had left Springfield for Memphis earlier this morning. When the aircraft was about 40 miles away, the pilot called tower personnel at about 7 a.m. and said he was turning around and returning to the airport, he said.

The plane made a safe landing, and airport mechanics were inspecting the plane this morning, Schroeder said. ?Everyone on the plane is fine,? he said.

The plane's 24 passengers will be rebooked on another flight to Memphis, Schroeder said. He was uncertain whether they would leave on the same plane or a different one.

Oh I figured it was because the plane was not properly stocked with Geritol and they had to return.
