Dang, I wish I lived in Ft. Lauderdale - you can find some great airfares now...

Sure, Delta Connection won't be flying down to the Caribbean or Latin America, but it will be increasing its presence. I am sure SWA will be following very soon. No doubt AA will be reducing fares on all Caribbean/Latin American flights as well. Read below:


Delta Connection to Add New and Increased Service to Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Delta Connection carrier Chautauqua Airlines adding nonstop service from nine cities to popular South Florida destination


ATLANTA, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Responding to customer demand for more nonstop service to popular Florida destinations, Delta Connection (NYSE: DAL - News) will increase service to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. from nine destinations in the U.S. South and Midwest.

Beginning Dec. 1, Delta Connection carrier Chautauqua Airlines will add service between Fort Lauderdale and Birmingham, Ala.; Charleston, S.C.; Dayton, Ohio; Greensboro, N.C.; Norfolk, Va.; Louisville, Ky.; Pensacola, Fla.; Raleigh/Durham, N.C. and Richmond, Va. With the exception of Raleigh/Durham, this will be the first Delta Connection nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale for these cities.

In addition, Delta is offering introductory fares as low as $79 one way, based on a roundtrip purchase. See below for additional terms, conditions, taxes and fees related to the fare sale.

"Our regional jet presence allows us to provide our customers with nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale and other popular leisure destinations," said Fred Buttrell, president and chief executive officer, Delta Connection, Inc. "When combined with our low introductory fares, travel to Florida this winter will be more convenient and less expensive for many in these cities."

With the new schedule, Delta Connection will offer:
  • One daily roundtrip between Fort Lauderdale and Charleston and between Fort Lauderdale and Richmond;
  • Two daily roundtrips between Fort Lauderdale and the cities of Birmingham, Dayton, Greensboro, Norfolk, Pensacola and Louisville; and
  • Five daily roundtrip flights between Raleigh/Durham and Fort Lauderdale.

All new service will be operated with 50-seat and 37-seat Embraer Regional Jet aircraft. Sample one-way fares based on a roundtrip purchase Between Fort Lauderdale and...
