Add 15 minutes holding fuel or get the BBQ grill fired up in case of a pig strike?

For the longest time, UAFM/FRU had a NOTAM that stated: "Large, soaring raptors reported in the vicinity of the aerodrome; use caution."

A New One!

E)CONCENTRATION OF BIRDS INCLUDING GULLS, FALCONS, HARRIERS, HERONS, SWALLOWS AND SWIFTS IN THE VICINITY OF THE AIRPORT.
CAUTION ADVISED.

The text I bolded could have been omitted and I STILL would have understood. The observer must have been a member of the Audubon Society!

What's the importance of the species at 600KTS closing speed!

I can see it now: "Hey Achilles....hard left...lets miss the harriers and take our chances with the swallows!"

What would Sully do?

Geez, it just occurred to me that there have been aircraft named after every one of those birds unnecessarily specified in the NOTAM. Some kind of Greek secret code perhaps?!?! I have chills!

Oh, look at the time....off to bed!
