Just found this on Avcrew.com.

I just read the ProPilot article last month about this operation - they have a few speedy Citation Xs and a King Air based out of Hawthorne, CA. What do people know about it? Is this a good place to work? Are the pilots happy? Sounds like a great position if you have a GIV type and some experience - worldwide flying... Any pros or cons we should know about?

One of the industry rags recently had an aritcle about Northrop. Check a few months back in Pro pilot, AIN, etc...

Is it me or are these guys always hiring??

No your not imagining things, Northrup is always looking for crews. I know in their southern operations (Florida and Mississippi) they are expected to fly almost everyday and then do 135 work on some weekends. The pay is standard for this part of the country, but getting 800-900 a year is not uncommon. Their big iron is in CA , in the south it is Lears, Citations and King Air.

800-900 hrs a year!!! WOW

read: 7 days/week of work -- fly or standby

I know two people who used to fly for Northrop at Hawthorne. One was the Chief Pilot who left after disagreements with management. The other was a Citation X Captain who left for Southwest. For the guy who left for Southwest, his biggest complaint was never being home.

Would that be Pat?

Agreed, that Chief Pilot is a friend of mine. I flew with him previously, and he was not too thrilled with the department's modus operandi.

I saw this ad on avcrew today. Why is NG always looking for pilots? That place is a turnstile for pilots. Does anybody have first hand experience working for NG? Is it really that bad? You would thhink a major F500/ big defense company would be a dream job. I guess not!
Just curious.....

I've never heard good things about 'em from anyone. Fly your a$$ off, never home, etc. The fact that they are always looking for pilots should tell you something. People don't quit good jobs.

NG Flight Department

Here is the deal on NG. If you are a cowboy flyer and don't give a crap about legality or airworthiness of the aircraft, this is the place for you. Don't ask questions, don't disagree with poor management decisions, and most of all, do not declare an emergency when the pilot flying passes out while on approach. If you do not call the NTSB and do not call the FAA, you will be quickly promoted to check airman and safety officer.

If you enjoy beating your head up against a wall day in and day out, I suggest you send them a resume. If you enjoy flying with pilots who have been fired from other 121 commuters, suspended and demoted....send them a resume. If you want to totaly ignore all policies and procedure set forth by NG, send them a resume.

NG is the anti-company. If you go against everything you have ever learned and know is right........this my friend is the place for you.

catch my drift.....?

The GIV job is at VNY. The rest of the SoCal crap is at HHR. What I can't figure out is why a company with as much prominence as NG runs such a crap flight department. Sound more like 135 work than 91.
