Non Rev

I just started with AE and I was just wondering how easy/hard is it to non rev. For example, I'm thinking about heading to LAX/SNA/wherever I can get in that area on friday after work and coming back saturday night or sunday morning. Most of the trips will just be me traveling, and sometimes with one other person (registered companion). I have noticed that flights are really full these days, but I know alot of you guys have tons of experience with it, so how difficult is it usually?

Non revving sucks ass, especially on Fridays and Sundays. T-Th are the best days to get somewhere, and bring gifts, especially chocolate, for the gate agents.
