Does UAL charge to non-rev in coach from Canada? I want to shorten my layover since my deadhead tomorrow is at 6pm and I get done at 10 tonight. Guess I have to non-rev since I can't jumpseat international.

no charge in coach

j/s on air canada... no taxes, cuter f/a's and free on-demand movies :)

by the way, can we PLEASE dispel this myth that you cannot jumpseat internationally?!

it's an absolute load of tripe! i jumpseat home on united (OMC) three times a year, get business class both ways (thanks a bunch guys) and i never pay a penny except $100 departure taxes ex-sydney.

what you can't do is ride ON THE JUMPSEAT internationally, but it doesn't stop you jumpseating the way we usually think of it (free ride in the back).

so to recap, YOU CCAANN JUMPSEAT INTERNATIONALLY!! get it???

Assuming, of course, your carrier has an international jumpseat agreement with the carrier you're trying to ride.

But you make a valid point that many people confuse the lack of international cockpit jumpseating with a prohibition against riding in back on jumpseat authority.
