I recently purchased a Gateway Laptop. I noticed if I am inactive for about 2 minutes, my laptop goes into Hibernation mode. So, I must re-boot my comp. I went into the main menu and noticed that Hibernation was already set to "Never." However, my laptop still hibernates. Does anyone have advice on how to prevent my laptop from continually hibernating?

Is the computer plugged in? If not, you need to adjust your power settings to stop it from going into hibernation or stand by.

Load the DVD Groundhog Day into your new laptop and it will never hibernate again.

BTW Dell, Gateway and the rest of the lot have freebie tech service available 24/7 (hopefully you understand Indian English)and can help you out mucho better than I or the rest on this forum.

Also, you need to go into the BIOS and disable power saving mode. That will allow Windows to handle it.

Just some FYI, Gateway has great tech support and no need for an interpreter either. I've owned Gateways for well over 10 years now and have been very fortunate. IF there's a problem I call them, wait maybe 2 minutes at most on hold before I get the tech support guys. Maybe it's me but they've been very helpful and if a part needs to be shipped it has arrived within 3 days.

As for your hibernation dilema I have no idea. I suggest what the others suggest and call Gateway. good luck!
