A couple of days ago the BUR flight Dept got an email from the Assistant ACP of Horizon stating that due to a lack of reciprocity they will be removing AMF from there approved list.

Despite this setback for AMF pilots in the Northwest, the tone of the email was very cordial in so much that Horizon is more than happy to enter into a reciprocal agreement-AMF just needs to get the ball rolling.

Although not a frequent user of the Horizon Jumpseat, I would like to thank Horizon for allowing us to ride with them and for keeping the door open for us in the future.

Man, that sucks for you amflight guys, especially the PDX based ones.
If you are in CASS, you can always ride on Evergreen.

Heard from a higher up that the VP of flight is working on a reciprical agreement with Horizon. Something about only allowing Horizon pilots on turbine aircraft, which I think for their sake, is wise.:D
Thanks to Horizon captains for being so generous to AMF pilots for this long with no agreement.

This should also go out on the regional board...but thanks Horizon for many years of nothing but friendly rides.

Effing AMF and our jumpseat 'un'policies.

I've given some 'unauthorized' rides with pride. When a fellow pilot needs to get somewhere and they're asking us, you know they're desperate! What can you do?

I never understood why AMF was so stingy with the jumpseat. I mean, Airnet flies interviewees to LCK on their planes and here AMF won't even let their own pilots jumpseat for personal reasons. I don't buy the "insurance" excuse I heard when I was there. How many times did we hear in training that the company basically did whatever they wanted when it came to pilot flight times and "insurance" mins because of the training and safety record? If they could dictate their own mins for flight times they could surely tell the insurance company to back off when it came to jumpseaters. It makes no sense that they went out and got CASS so pilots could ride up front on SWA, but they won't take the time to make formal agreements with anyone else. Does it?

Very valid points you raise indeed, your point regarding CASS and SWA are well taken, we should be expanding our reciprocity with other carriers.

Unfortunately AMF seems to have a penchant for making the simple complicated!

Can us UPS'ers ride with you guys?
Unfortunately not, regrettable considering they used to permit DHL/UPS as well as SWA to ride with us.

I remember using the DHL jumpseat and being able to UPS jumpseat with just a simple call, shame we can't return to such an arrangement.
