even though checks might be going away, one of the biggest thing that we also haul at my company are credit card recipts, and those aren't going anywhere.

I still write checks for bills to keep myself in business:D

Support your local freight dogg - WRITE A FREAKIN' CHECK.

For thoes guys hauling checks in the NE, I live in SYR and my bank is in Philly, Pa. I write about 10 to 15 checks per month. I smile when you wake me up at 3:30am blasting off RWY 28 in SYR. I'm doin my job.

Aren't freight dogs who get direct deposit kind of shooting themselves in the foot?

direct deposit

Yes, which is why our company only pays by paper, no direct deposit.

I like that, support your local freightdog, write a check!

I spent three years hauling cancelled checks, so I feel obligated to do my part to keep those freighters busy. I know that everything is going electronic these days, but I have yet to ever pay a bill electronically. I write about 15-20 checks per month, and I still buy stamps. Sometimes I'll buy something from the internet, of course...but other than that, I'll keep writing checks until they disappear completely. Besides, doesn't everyone love balancing the old checkbook?

There's one other thing to remember. You may not write any more checks, but a lot of businesses still do to pay vendors, contractors, etc. I would venture to guess that most of the checks I haul around are business-to-business and that's not going to change any time soon. Bean-counters still love the feel of paper.
