I (among many, I think......or hope!) was bad and got lazy when I started flying in the Air Force--with all of those AFORMS/SARMS products and 781s--I never kept a paper copy of my hours (i.e. a civilian-style logbook)--other than my Air Force flight records. My question is: does anyone know for (1) the ATP and (2) airline interviews, what Air Force or military paperwork satisfies the flight time requirements that a civilan logbook would have shown? What format should they be in/how should I organize the products, etc.? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If AF forms don't reflect X-C time, you might have to work something to show you have 500hrs of X-C time for your ATP Checkride.

Being a former military pilot, I've never been in an airline interview, pax or cargo that cared too much about logging your military time in a civil logbook. Just take your AFORMS time in with your civil logbook. In fact, in 2 of 3 interviews, they said they didn't need to see the logbook. They got everything they needed from my resume.

start putting form 5 data in a log book today! Then make a spread sheet as a summary. They will most likely just look at the form 5 and summary but be ready for a full review.

no need

They all know how to read an AF form 5. No logbook at United and FedEx, hired by both. If you try to recreate a logbook, you'll Dork it up and get questions. Just don't add other time to your total, underestimate when in doubt. The only time you will get the anal review is if you are close to their mins.

No log book for me either. My Form 5 worked just fine for my ATP, Type and interview. I can't speak for airlines other than Southwest, but the logbook check at my interview took less than 10 seconds. I gave the guy my Form 5 and he said, "Ah, Air Force." He looked at the time and said, "Alright." that was it.

Back when I was reserve I went to several interviews with my AFORMS and my civilian log book (for civilian time that I had) Skywest looked at my AFORMS and said "ah...Air Force" and that was the end of the log check. The only place that couldn't understand why I didn't have an "Air Force Logbook" was those dorks at Mesa Airlines. Some greenhorn FO tried telling me that it was an FAR that I had to have a log book to show currency and he couldn't get it through his thick head that we didn't keep books....

Still a little ignorant in this area: they don't count other time with total time??? Is that correct?

Not sure what you are asking. The AF products do indeed include "other" time in your total time.

However, just about all airlines state they want AF "other" time excluded from your totals. Just subtract your "other" time and count Primary, Secondary, Instructor and Evaluator. Make sure you also subtract all Simulator time (I don't think it's included in the AF totals, but I don't remember).
