Why give away a bargaining chip for the next round of contract talks?

The Company has it pretty good right now with a whole bunch of guys working here who are willing to drive up to TEB.

3 more years of driving....

13.2(c) DOMESTIC DOMICILE OPENINGS AND CLOSINGS

The company may open new Domiciles at it's discretion... The company agrees to provide 90 days written notice of new Domicile openings to the Union and all Cremembersa. This notice may be sent via the company-issued communication devices.

The company can add additional Domiciles right now and start using them 90 days from now if they desired to.

You guys really need to start reading into the contract.

Yes....I know they can open up as many Domiciles as they want but it would be stupid for them to do so.

At least for now......maybe in a few years, once negotiations starts, they will open a few key domiciles to swing the new hire vote their way.

The company won't GIVE us anything. It's not how collective bargaining works. They never have "given" us anthing either... unless you count watches and clothes that help them advertise the brand. These are trinkets and nothing that qualifies as an item of value that make a career at NetJets more valuable.

Domiciles, in and of themselves, were conjured up as diversionary items that were designed to make pilots want to give up something valuable (W2 $$$) in exchange for something that costs the company NOTHING (More HBAs).

FACT: Domiciles save this company squat.

FACT: Pilots would rather fly from a reasonable HBA than commute to or move to a Domicile.

FACT: The company knows both of the above and plans to capitalize on it.

The company has clear language in the CBA to allow themselves relief if needed. There is no reason for them to waste the stamp on a letter inviting the Union to a negotiating session when no session is needed.

I think we are on the same page.

I won't speculate on what would increase the companies chances of passing a POSTA with this group. It's counter productive for you and me.
 
Agreed....let's just say one thing....you andI both agree that the Company is only thinking of themselves.

They will attempt to drive any wedge they can drive between the pilots.

I'm curious what the nest contract is going to look like.

The next CBA will look like what this pilot group settles for. The 1108 NJA MEC will determine what the important issues are for the pilot group using polling, etc. They will formulate a priority of the issues. The bargaining process will begin and the bargaining unit made up of the leadership, the membership, SPC (SC) and the NC will do it's job.

The more prepared the membership is mentally and financially for this reocuring struggle that occurs every 3-5 years, the better.

I almost laughed when another pilot said, "Thank God this contract is over and we can get back to the way things USED to be." I just suggested that if he didn't have the stomach for bargaining every 5 years, he seek a new company to work for.

I find it humorous that a lot of people bitched and moanded about netjets before the contract....no one wanted to work there......now after the contract everyone bitches.......moral.....shoulda came here before the contract.

as long as people take the job they WILL NOT open more domiciles. You peope need to look elsewhere or bite the bullet until the next contract.
 
Netjets version of the B scale. It will end up bighting them in the a$$. The domicile issue will either be solved as a result of company needs or bought by the pilots in the next contract.

Common Sense. You gave NJ something that only has an effect on future pilots. Those pilots will want it changed on your next contract. You will have spend negoatiating capital to get it back.

That is how the "B" scale went at the airlines.

And no I don't work there but contract negotiations are pretty universal in nature. NJ is not special.

I am not trying to start a fight, but everytime current employees give up something that only has an effect on future employees, you have the formula for animosity. I saw it happen at the airlines.
 
Way to go you saw it at the airlines. I didn't realize the airlines paid for travel or are you just talking about pay. Which has no bearing on this conversation.

We fought extremely hard for the crew bases for the new hire pilots. If you do a search I refused to vote yes till new hires got what I have. What changed my mind? The company was willing to go to the mat to make sure that new hires did the domicile thing.

So what were the NJ pilots supposed to do. Stand in the way, and give up money for the bad idea that the line pilots and negotiators saw? Should we fix this company for the managment, because they can't figure out what we knew then? That the quality and number of pilots will go down to the point where they can't hire from the domiciles anymore and they will be FORCED to open them up.

When the negotiations open up and continue do you think the new hires will just give up on the domiciles? No way no how.

So its not a b scale, because a b scale would mean they are second class citizens which new hires are not.

Sounds kida like a B scale. Haves, which really makes this job cool. Have nots, gotta drive or live in a high dollor area. To compound the matter they don't make as much because they are new. IMO of course.:)
