It's been discussed already.

There is a legit reason why they were throwing the bags out.

To break their fall? :p

Where was it discussed? I took a peek at the Cargo forum but didn't see anything.

I am not questioning the importance of the flight bags and their contents. I'm positive there were more than toothbrushes and a change of underwear in them, and that there would have been a major hassle to replace the documents left onboard in time for the next flight.

I thought I remember seeing some discussion about it previously, but I don't recall there being any video. My initial reaction when I read the NTSB report was that it was just a bunch of government suits overreacting. However, seeing that thick black smoke billowing out of the plane and the length of time that transpired from the first guy down the rope to the last guy down, gives the issue more prospective.

But like I previously stated, I wasn't there. Maybe it looks worse on the video than how it looked from inside the plane. Hell, there might not have been any smoke in the cockpit. Having watched the video I thought it might interest others.

It was an interesting video that I don't believe was posted before. Thanks for the link.
