Most guys I talk to, think that NJs already has a 121 certificate. However, I was talking to one of the BBJ pilots that said we (NJs) just completed the "table tops and proving runs". And that we should get the 121 certificate "within weeks".

Asked him what that means for us, as a company. Mentioned that there might be a 757 or 767 that we might manage, then he mentioned a possible "Hawaiian Shuttle" using 737s.

IBB and 121 at the same time frame...coincidence?

This rumor has been going around for years...

Yep, coincidence. I'll believe it when I see the first planes being crewed by pilots with spiffy gold ties.

I remember how 757's were an imminent "sure thing" when I got hired in '04. And the other rumor at the time was that NetJets was buying FLOP's.

I'm pretty sure that this is not a rumor at this time. The table tops were last week and if not, then this week. Just how close they are is an open question but there is no doubt that they are in the process. I personally know two of the guys involved. Hesitate to say their names, but initials are MA and the other guy who left Cargo 360 as CP, initials are CC. Don't know squat about 737's to the islands or a B757 management deal however.

I'm pretty dumb but what does Netjets want to do with a 121 cert? Sell tickets for scheduled service on BBJs and executive configured airliners????

Mason,

Here is the deal. With a Part 121 Cert you can carry any number of pax anywhere your ops specs allow. With a Part 135 Cert as you may have now, (Not sure), you have a pax laoad restriction. Part 125 falls in between...max pax; 20, max pay load 6000#. If you are currently Part 135, (?) you cannot exceed pax 20 or 6000# payload, erog bring me a Part 121 Cert. Makes sense to me.

What COULD NetJets do with a 121 Cert?

We could run a luxury service between key US cities with a schedule like US Airways/Delta Shuttle only we would configure the airplanes with far fewer seats and charge far more, thus actually making a profit in a completely different market.

We could fly more charters; sports teams, special events, etc.

I am sure there may be more applications but I do also feel that there is more money to be made in the markets we currently dominate.

I forget where I was, but the ramper said he just went through a NetJets 121 training program for the BBJ.

We'll see...
