Do NJA newhires domiciled in CMH get paid per diem during training? If not, are these CMH guys/gals supposed to stay in a company-paid hotel or have a place to live in CMH prior to training?
It says something to the effect in the CBA that if you live more than 50 miles from your domicile/HBA you are eligible for travel expenses i.e. hotel and per diem for the purposes of training events.
The per diem starts from the first hour of class on the first day of indoc even if you airlined in the night before for training. The first day therefore you'll only get 16 hours or so of per diem. You'll get 24 hours a day after that until the last day you travel home. The company does cover the night before at the company hotel though so you don't have to worry about finding a room. I think that indoc is covered regardless of your domicile, all the CMH folks in our class stayed at the hotel. Be aware though that the hotel is not direct bill so you have to have a credit card that can handle a two week stay at around 70 bucks a night or so. The card isn't charged until you check out, but they do require that you are able to handle the amount against your limit. You can get a check for your first week from T&E before you even leave indoc and if you want the company card you can get it before you check out as long as you stay on top of them.
A good idea would be to get the Hilton Honors Amex before you get to indoc if you don't have it already. That seems to be the card that more netjets folks use than any other. We stay at mostly hilton properties and if you use that card you get 5 points per dollar spent at any hilton hotel in addition to your usual points. Your expenses can be direct deposited to a bank account (doesn't have to be the same one your paycheck goes to incase you like to keep the money separate) so paying the bill is easier.
