Is it just me or does anyone else believe that the writing is on the wall here for merging the two pilot groups? With the passage of the new IBB Okatie is out of the hiring business altogether and NJA captains will be going to the g5 soon, I guess I should start educating myself on the ins and outs of union procedure.

NJI won't stop hiring until 11/21/08.
also BNJ is run along side NJA, so I don't see why NJI can't be run along side NJA.

Its actually NJLA.

NJA can't go direct to the GV. Must go through the IV. Also it incurs quite a long seat and company lock.

Oh i think okatie is here to stay, however I also think the Union will be collecting their dues out of my paycheck within the next 2 years! Never thought I would say that but there it is!

I just want to know when we get all that before 0800 or 0700 whatever it is. And after what ever for OT. Hey jetspeed are your initials MC?

Believe me, we get many times our money's worth out of 1108! The water's fine, come on in. :D

So I've gathered here. I have zero experience with unions tho and can only hope for the best. Meantime I'll be flying my trips, takin' care of my crew and pax! Had a nice talk with GM on the road and he said reassuring things to me. Can I wear my swimmies if the water looks deep?

Flyjetspeed,

Get involved and stay involved, that is the only way the 1108 will work. If you don't agree with the the masses that gives you even more reason to stand up and let everybody know what is on you mind. We all can learn something from anyone.

To me the battle is won already. In less than 12 months no new pilots come in from outside 1108. Whether the existing pilots join 1108 or not ... Mission is accomplished.

If NJI grows so does 1108. There can be no whip saw. Also 85% of international flying has to come to 1108. If they can do that and keep the companies separate ... I don't care.

If they can't do it we get to negotiate a new contract ... which is what I favor over contract extension. The (rumored) XO Jet payscale is already higher than ours albeit for different schedule.

at the mgmt briefings last week, the company lawyer said the 85% was put in the contract to keep the contract from being extended because there is no way they could meet the 85%. Either way we won

"O" Man why did ya want to start this now. LOL No GV for awhile. But we will be flight instructing again soon.

:DHey buddy, I think at least 2 yrs. before anyone from the A side can move over to the G5. They were locked for 4 yrs on the last contract, but with the new contract not sure when the change could happen. I really don't think people understand there will be very FEW that will make it to the Left seat of a G....
I welcome the changes as of now, the guys I've met have been great, they are VERY happy to be here at NJI. They now understand why we didn't need a union, THIS IS ONE HELL OF A PLACE TO WORK.... Now if they can BOOT the truck drivers union, it will only be better for everyone.
I'm with you, on th O.T. SHOW ME "MORE" MONEY:laugh::beer:

So would it not be a good idea to go to work for NJI right now? What would be the downside for an off the street hire right now at NJI?

An NJI new hire right now (and many current FO's for that matter) will NEVER see the left seat of a G...Left seat of an Ultra, sure.

For the most part, the hiring at NJI is over (off the street). If your name has not been in the hat for some time now, and you don't have a sponsor, you will not even get close, before all the pilots start coming from the A side. The word is, they already have pilots in the pool and will have only ONE more interview class for next year.
The party is OVER for new hires off the street.:bawling:
The next best thing is to try and get in NJA.

Wow, if you'll NEVER see the left seat of a G, who is going to fly it? the guy in the right seat? The left seat person has to come from somewhere. So your telling me that if I worked for NJ for 20 years, I'll never see the left seat?

Doyle, you arent listening. IF you get hired at NJI between now and 12/08, and IF the pilot groups are merged in a couple years, THEN, yes, you will NEVER see the left seat of a G, because ALL the pilots at NJA will be senior to you and thus in the left seat of the G before you. All 3000 of them.

Alot of IFs in there.

You make it sound like seniority is a bad thing. :cartman:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but who cares now if you fly a G-V or an Ultra (from an NJA point of view), everyone gets paid the same (minus BBJ) until year 12 anyways, and by then their will be a new contract...

am I way off on this
