When hired at NJ, are you assigned a domicile or do you get to pick where you want to go? Also, what are the current domiciles and how is pay handled while in training?

So far, it sounds like the company is accomodating domicile requests. From the new-hires I've spoken with, the company is asking for the interviewee's domicile request either before or during the interview.

As for pay during training, you are paid from day one. Per diem is also paid during training. In addition, a single-occupancy hotel room is also provided. I'm not certain, however, how the hotel works for new-hires who have CMH as their domicile: the company may not provide one for new-hires domiciled in CMH. But that's a good question to ask when an interview is set up.

I hear about two types of schedules the 7n7 and flex. What is the flex schedule like and what can a new hire expect for a schedule?
No more Flex (that was last contract). Reserve is the new term. Basically you are obligated to work 18 days per month. The preceding month you get to request two, 2 day periods (called Hard Days Off) where you are guaranteed to be off (if they grant you the days you requested). Those 2 Hard Days Off periods can either be touching or separated by at least 7 days. You call in on your last day off (NLT)1900L and find out if the next day is a work day or not. If it isn't, you are off the next day and repeat the call in at 1900L. If the next day is a work day, you will be told what time to report. They may keep you out for up to 7 days at a time (you don't know at the beginning of a tour how long you will be out). If you're out for 6 days, you're guaranteed 3 days off. If out for 7, you're guaranteed 4 days off.

So if you call and the next day you're not flying then it's an official "off" day, not just a work day that you go unused?

Its a day off - feel free to put down the phone and pick up a beverage of your choice :) They cannot touch you until you call in the next night.

Has a satelitte airport been designated for CMH yet? I'll be making the drive from the west and would appreciate a shorter commute.

Has there been any talk of an ATL domicile?

Just trying to shorten my "commute" since I too will probably be driving in. Wife's ex and custody issues prevent moving out of TN...

Man oh man I should've taken that interview offer at NJA back in 2001. :) Hind-sight is 50/50.

No talk of a new domicile. There is some conjecture that if the company has trouble finding enough new pilots to staff the 5 current domiciles, then they may have to start giving HBA (Home Base Airport) to everyone. Of course, the company can open new domiciles at its discretion (Section 13.2 (c) for those of you reading the contract), so that's another possibility.
