I just got a class date for the 14th on the XL. I'm just looking for info on the plane, types of trips, what sucks, what's good. Easy on what sucks I have read a lot of negatives I don't need to hear them again. It can't be any worse than my last 2 1/2 years at IDE. Plus small paycheck is better than what unemployment was paying me.

Oh and do any NetJet guys contract out on their days off. I heard the money can be pretty good. I was thinking about checking out my local FBO.

I got to know the Chief pilot pretty well, and some of the assistant cheifs all seem like pretty good guys. I put together a training powerpoint for trips to Bermuta, so you may get to go there someday.

Planes are all speced the same with 1 FMS. Sat in the cockpit a few times, seemed enough room for me but I'm only 5'9" 140lbs.

Yeah me too. Oh boy sound tight. It can't be much worse than the RJ. Specially when the captain flys with his suitcase up there.

Lancair,

I'm 6'4" and 250. I can fold myself up and get into a X. I just don't get in or out of the seat unless I need to.

I'm 6'5 and can fit in the excel. I'm checked out on the XLS and prefer it because the seat has more adjustments. The most important being the up-down adjustment. The seat will go lower in the xls. When I fly the xl, I have to bend over just to see the engine gauges.

How many XLS aircraft are on the property now and how many expected eventually? Will they just replace all of the current XLs? Will all XL pilots be cross-qualified in both? Beyond the seat improvements, any other differences between the two types?

Not sure of the exact number of xls now. I think 5-6. Don't think they are replacing the XL's, just new deliveries will be XLS. Yes, pilots are qualified in both after a checkout. Avionics are nicer. Bigger screens, more choices on info displayed. Engines have more thrust. Cessna moved some components around. Most noticable is the brake accumulator. Cessna moved it back to the battery compartment, so, you no longer have that annoying noise every time the accumulator charges.

good that way you won't pull the brake CB in the airplane..... :)

5 on property, 45 more due with 50 options (at least that has always been the standard order at NJA).

Now don't flame me just a question. With the seat lock of 2 years does that better my changes of upgrading faster? If it's a growing fleet could I possible beat someone to Captain on it because I'm seatlocked? Just wondering. Otherwise from what I hear I'll pay off my house before I see the 4th stripe. Wait a minute..... I don't even own a house yet! Crap!

90%+ of the pilots at NetJets are off seat lock. You're not going to beat anybody that wants it.

upgrades are taking so long your seatlock will be long gone before you upgrade.

Think 5 years.

Couple questions about Netjets

1. What is the hourly per diem?
2. How many more aircraft are on order...and how fast? They have what, a little over 500 now?
3. Is it 2 weeks vacation your first year? When does it move up to 3:)

Thanks

1. $1.6/hr
2. As a Special Forces Demolition friend of mine told me once, "BooCoo, plus plenty equals enough..." Net of 15 (app) this year.
3. 5th year

Thanks, just trying (of course, what else?) to see upgrade potential with new jets coming.

The latest Hawker 800 bid went to two guys with seniority numbers less than 200. Both PICs in other airplanes just bidding to get another type rating and probably a better schedule. The way things are going it could be 7 years to upgrade.

I was just offered the Excel as a new hire--
--A little over a week ago, I asked the question of some of the recruiters and management types as to how long we could anticipate upgrading in the excel.

I was told (and this is the quote) -- "Right now it's taking about 18 months, and it's probably going to stay about that--it was shorter, but we're seeing a little less movement now". (they were talking specifically about the excel)

But the numbers sure don't add up. I don't see it happening in 5 years.

You're right X, those numbers don't add up! And what a lot of NJA job applicants and even NJA current co-pilots chomping at the bit for quick upgrades fail to realize, is that as our two orphaned fleets (the Hawker 1000 and the Citation VII) continue to shrink due to airframe sales, there will be HUNDREDS of VERY senior PICs and F/Os ahead of you to take ANY of the few upgrades offered.

I would caution ANYONE coming to NJA that you could EASILY be a right seater for MANY, MANY, years.

This borders on criminal behavior, for interviewees to make their decisions based on these mis-statements is only the tip of the iceberg. If you can remember names, please send me a pm if you don't want to post them here. The truth is the 5-7 year range, sorry they are still selling that crap, it needs to stop!!!

Hey Hawk, I have always just said that "P=Plenty" then a pound or two for for the Group Commander.

Titty Jet Don't give me any crap. I've been at the bottom of a reserve list for the last 3 years at IDE. I voted no for the pay cuts over there and feel all of us our underpaid. Why do you think I took a job here as opposed to MESA or some other $19.00 hour regional. So many other factors went into my decision as well. I don't need to pay for a crash pad, parking, Health insurance is paid 100%, When I can hold 7-7 day care is cut in half. So now yes, I have to hope for a new contract and a livable wage. Maybe the grass is always greener and I'll find out soon enough but I'll take my chances.
