Does anyone know when the next SWA pilot hiring board is? I just interviewed on Monday, 7 FEB, and was wondering how fast we would find out. Lindsey said "4-6 weeks", but I know that is the standard gouge answer they always give, and can actually be much shorter if your timing is lucky.
Thanks!

Take this with a grain, no, make that a shaker of salt. I'd say since you interviewed in the early part of the month you'll have a longer wait. From what I've seen and heard they usually hold the DBs around mid-month. That gives them time to do their stuff (calls refs, etc) after their last week of the month interviews preceding the DB.
I interviewed on 12 Jan, and from what I've heard our DB will be around 15 Feb.
Caveat emptor.

It is also possible to interview too close to the decision board, and not have your package ready before the first board meets. If you miss the next board they will simply look at your app at the next one. Its going to be a long, frustrating wait, you may as well prepare yourself for a long wait rather than get your hopes up the day after that you will hear something sooner than the average. Prepare to be on the edge of your seat for a while.

By the way, good luck to you!

Get your hopes up! If this is your dream job, than get your hopes up! This is the place where you want to be, right??? Then your stomach should be in knots and you should feel like you could crap your pants at any moment because that's how worked up you are about getting THIS job. If you're not feeling that, then maybe you don't want to be at Southwest as much as you think.

Get over it....

You got an interview with 2600 hours?

Don't take this the wrong way but get over it. Military pilots get hired with a minimum of 2000-3000 TT. Civilians get hired with much more. That's the real World. The lowest time military pilot I've seen get interviewed was 2100 TT. You are competing against civilian pilots military folks against military folks. That pilot getting interviewed with 2600 TT means nothing about your chances and it certainly doesn't mean you'll get an interview with 2600 TT unless you are military.
BTW,
2300 PIC TURBINE, 4 year degree, chief pilot, 737 type, clean record and probably a long wait...but totally worth it!

Good luck.

Yeah. Been there. Done that. Still waiting to buy my t-shirt!

For the week before the DB, I was having nightmares where random people would come up to me and say, "Man, I heard you didn't get it. Bummer."

I was a wreck.

All better now, though!

I'm not saying don't have your heart set on getting hired. I am just saying relax and let the process take its course. Don't make things harder on yourself by expecting to get called quicker than the average bear is all.

Dave: Read the post. I said nothing about not having high hopes, or not being nervouse. Those are fine things. Just advising the person to wait patiently for the good news instead of getting all wadded up in anticipation.

Good Luck.
