Can anyone recommend a decent hotel in the Newark area (seriously) that is within walking distance of stuff to do Restaurants, stores etc). Our company would like to move out of the Holiday Inn Airport but we are having a hell of a time finding anything that is within walking distance of stuff to do.

Thanks

Heyas,

Try to get the hotel next to the prison. That way, you can get a room facing a cell and watch their TV...the prison gets better cable.

Walking and Newark don't really go hand in hand.. At least as far as your heath and safety is concerned...

There are a couple hotels on the south side of the airport that are close to the Jersey Gardens Mall. It's not great but it has a food court and movie theaters. I think the hotels are a Marriott Courtyard and the Country Inn & Suites.

I suggest the Newark Gateway Hilton. It is connected by a sky bridge to Penn Central Station Newark and you can walk across and hop a train and in 20 minutes you can be in downtown NYC and you can walk until your hearts content. I think the price was about 7 bucks roundtrip. I was there in June for four days and hit the city everyday.

I suggest the Short Hills Hilton. 15 minutes away (actually about 1/2 way between EWR and MMU) indoor pool, in the suburbs. It is across fromthe Short Hills Mall waith Legal Seafoods and other restaurants.

However, if you do stay at the Gateway Hilton you are 2 blocks from the Ironbound disctrict with delicious Portuguese and Spanish food.

Fly safe.

Delicious portugese food, and a good chance of being mugged. The IronBound is definately a place you need to be aware of your surroundings. It is getting worse. By far the best option for you is the Courtyard/Country Inn and suites by the jersey garden mall in Elizabeth. At least something to do shop/movie theater.

the full service marriott is great, signature can set up a nice rate. I am trying to find out where the airplane artwork in the rooms comes from.
