Hello everyone,

I am interested in finding out about any Corporate Operators in the NY Metro area flying the GIV. Any contact info would be great(address, email, contact name, and numbers). Thanks for the help.

there are many, many, many and sending resumes is a wasted effort. Go there in person (HPN is the mecca) and spend a couple days knocking on doors. you can try oxford and teterboro as well. you need personal contact and face time. just my .02.

excellent advice. Thanks to both of you. I wish there was a way to find the phone numbers to all the GIVs registered in NJ and NY, or a way to find a real address and not a address where they are registered. This would help for when I go around the airports, instead of going totally blind. Again thanks, and I'm all ears to anymore advice.

Just a thought...

dont go knocking on doors blindly. Be sure to call first, get an OK to stop in and drop a resume and talk to someone. With security these days, its no longer ring the bell and get buzzed in...thats illegal by the TSA.

I have seen many take offense to drop bys....

(like they were never hitting the bricks looking for work)

 .

Last time I checked the TSA is over at the terminal looking through old lady's bags not guarding corporate hangars.

How is he going to get all those names and numbers without an NBAA Directory? I've been in the NBAA for 20 yrs and I don't have one.

At HPN if you put on a suit and take your resume in hand and ring the buzzer at most hangars and ask to speak with the chief pilot I think you will either get in or at least get a name and number (which is what you wanted in the first place). Then you can write to him/her and say you tried to stop by. Someone may be impressed with your drive. Anyone can stick a stamp on an envelope. You gotta meet people in this business to get jobs. Its that simple.

Your company own a hangar at HPN?

If so, your front door HAS most likely been tested by the TSA posing as a pilot looking for a job or maybe as a vendor needing to deliver a part. If he was buzzed into an area where there was any access to the ramp you got a very large fine. Every operator I know at HPN/TEB/NY area is well aware of these circumstances....

Hence they MAY not like drop by's...someone has to go meet them, check thier ID, sign them in, get them a time coded visitor pass, and escort them to a secure area (no ramp access) someone will also have to escort them back out, sign them out and collect thier visitor pass....see why many like a call first?? -- Just something to think about.

How is he going to get addresses / names? -- Ask here! many will help out if you ask about a specific operator. Asking - "Is anyone hiring on the East Coast" may be a little broad, but asking about "XYZ corp at KTEB" might get you some specific info...

I have an NBAA Directory and I have'nt been in the NBAA for...well...anywhere near 20 years...and I will happily share any info I can.

But what do I know..

Good Luck in the job search

I am headed to EWR tonight, and going to spend five days looking around TEB FRG HPN. Any and all help is very much appreciated. If you guys would please help me with some names of companies that fly the GIV and the airport they are based at, it would help me out so much. Otherwise I am just going to be knocking on random doors unless the companies are listed on aircharterguide.com. Just names and airport would be all I need, however, Contact names and phone numbers would be great. Thanks so much. I will be headed to LA on 1/23 to do the same. Wish me luck:)>. Feel free to PM if you need too. Again thank you so much for any and all help already given.

Dude.

Summit Jet out of Farmingdale. Just picked up two GIV's from the rumor.
not rumor but actual fact since I've seen the 2 GIVs in the hangar more than once. Summit you will not get in the door unless you call first.

As always thanks Cueboat. I have spoken with the right person and have lined up a meeting with them. Any other help. Hope some one out there has there fingers crossed for me;).

Dude

your profile says you are currently a G-IV co-pilot...where are you based and what draws you to NY/NJ??

The whore pay in South Florida is what draws me to NY/NJ/CA. I am currently a contract co-pilot at a so so 135 company. Not much on the horizon here for GIV's in the next month or two, and I gotta get something going. I have a friend that has been saying they are adding 2 GIV's to there fleet soon, but so far nothing is in the hangar. I am sure you all know how that story goes, I hope it works though. Since I am young, single, "and no kids that I know of" I need to pay some more dues. Not to much to up and move for the right opportunity. Well I am off, any advice is still very welcomed(thanks to TC and all else) I will check in as I go.

Dude

I hope you're loving the weather here (go to Cali bro).

might wanna check out Executive Flightways at ISP. I think theyhave a G-IV or 2. 800-533-3363 is the # on their website.

Also... check out Key Air at OXC. More Gulfstreams than you can shake a stick at. 800-258-6975.

good luck

thanks for all the PM and advice. More than helpful. I appreciate it all, and the kind words as well.

Executive Flitways at ISP operate 3 G-4's, but my info is that there are no openings with any one of the 3 (2 are owned by a Fortune 500 Investment Bank). The 2 G-4's at Summit have been there for around 2 years already, so they aren't new at all. Suggest you try some of the other charter operators in the NY metro area, such as Privatair, TAG, Jet Aviation and the like. New World Aviation at ABE is constantly expanding, so that may also be an option. All of these operate sizable fleets, including many G-4's. IMHO, much easier to get on with them, then try a part 91 operator after building up quality time with the 135 boys.
