Like the PSA Airbus that was on here last week the Allegheny Vistajet Paint is out. I believe "vistajet" is what ALG called/named the DC-9 when they first arrived way back when. Hence the VJ number on the reg. Many of the U DC9 were registered this way but post Critter everyone thought they were old ValueJet aircraft that U bought, not true.

Waiting for the PDT paint. I would be nice if they did an Empire, Mohawk and Lake Central too.

Sure would.

When I was a kid living in da'Burgh I used to watch the ol' Vistajet 9's taking off and landing. They were always my favorite airplanes.

I'm glad I had the chance to fly them in 99 and 00 before USAir started parking the 9s.

Actually it would be nice to see them pick out a random retiree and send them a $100,000 check instead of blowing money getting all nostalgic about the past. It's the type of thing I'd expect from a highly profitable company that hasn't screwed thousands of former employees and retirees.

My barber's wife got laid off a couple months ago from the reservations center here in INT.

It's not about nostalgia, it's about a new company attempting to improve morale.

O.K., thanks... That clears it all up for me. I'm sure after all the layoffs, gutted pensions, and heated debate about merging seniority lists the new paint job will make all the difference in the world.

How about putting the gate agents and ticket counter employees in throw back uniforms ??? Because those people certainly could use a morale improvement ! Unquestionably the rudest and most unaccommodating customer service personnel on the planet. I personally enjoyed being cursed at by the lady at DCA when I had the gall to inquire where the gate was.

Yea, didn't I read they were going to do a PDT and a PSA paint job?

I sure wish NWA would bring back the "duck", but the red book guys would probably have a spaz attack.

No Orient, no Hermans, and no yellow bananas. If/when the next merger occurs, the U.S. Air Mail insignia will surely go, too.

I like that Alleghany paint job -- retro, and classic.

Figure this. An aircraft has to be painted anyway. It isn't costing anything extra to use a little creativity. They even use the same colors. Your trying to compair apples and oranges.

Don't get me wrong, it stinks what happened over their, but not painting an airplane a nastalgic paint scheme isn't going to help.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to logically call me out for simply being a wise a$$ ... :D

However, I'll stick to my guns on the point that saying it's a morale boost is an insult to anyone's intelligence.

I think it's a great idea even though it has no effect on my morale. Some people just choose to be bitter. Not saying there isn't good reason to be bitter, but it's still a matter of choice.
