Just what they need to be spending money on...paintjobs! How many millions (billions??) are they losing annually?? Someone in UAL mgmt must own stock in an aircraft paint company.

The cost will be minimal as the aircraft will be painted with the new scheme as they go in for their scheduled re-painting anyway.

Most of it looks good except for the fading dark-to-light blue stripes. Could have been more racy, but...well that's just United!

Cheers!

Why must all airlines use straight lines? They look like crap and give the a/c no sense of motion or speed. Some flowing lines across the body would be nice. Something different would be better, but i guess they decided to go with the norm and blend in instead of standing out. (i guess this reply really has to do with all airlines, and not just UA...although i really don't think they did good with this one.)

Next time I will click the URL before posting a reply....

Not bad looking, has a retro look with the white. I always thought the orange/red/grey looked horrible. On the other hand, now its UAL with neon blue lower/engines and Frontier with green. Now all we need is Southwest to fly into Denver with the red lower/engines to complee the variety.

Now all they need to do is bring back a real orig 60s scheme on a few planes like AA did. Now those planes would look nice.

BLAND. Looks like they got they bought a plane with someone else's scheme on it and slapped the UNITED onto the side and the shield on the tail. United has never had a decent livery. Wolf's was the boldest, and that says very little.

It's definitely an improvement from the current military-airlift blue and gray.

...and AA's polished aluminum continues to look great!

'Bout time

Thank God. I've hated their blue/grey scheme for the last 10 years. Now if only Delta would get a clue and go back to their classic widget look. Dare to dream.

I've heard tell that this switch was motivated by cost (naturally). It seems the current livery is one of the more costly out there in terms of materials and labor. The new livery is supposedly significantly cheaper to apply.

Just the word on the street.

Definate thumbs up!

I can't tell from that pic, but are they going to keep that bare metal strip down the length of the bottom of the fuselage? What was the reason behind that anyways?
