Don't worry.. Soon they will realize just getting on the plane is a security issue and the new rules will read:

New procedures will start this coming winter to ensure the utmost safety for our nations commercial passenger system. These new procedures will likely cause small delays at the checkpoint so please plan accordingly. These new procedures are:

Passengers will no longer be allowed to carry on any bag whatsoever. This is to include carry-ons, laptops, purses, camera bags, etc...
Passengers will no longer be allowed to carry on books, magazines, literature, etc..
Passengers will no longer be allowed on the aircraft period..

Also, for further safety, all flight crews will undergo additional security measures. this is to include:
No fight crew will be allowed to carry on any bag, purse, overnight kit, flight kit, magazine etc..
No flight crew will be allowed to occupy the cockpit during flight. It has been proven in our security tests that flight crews can cause damage to the aircraft while occupying the pilot seats.

crew in uniform

Ok, so no liquids can go thru in carryons. What about us who are going on 4 or 5 day trips. Do they expect us to go that long and not have shaving cream, toothpaste, contact solution, bourbon, etc. Are we exempt from this directive?

The first two are being implemented TODAY at Heathrow. Only get your passport and "travel-related documents."

I just read a company ExpressJet message indicating that "operating flight crews in uniform are exempt..." However, I don't know if I believe that message considering how TSA rules differ from various airports and screeners.

What about crew members who are commuting? We're not operating the flights, but are going to be as soon as we get to our domicile. I need my toothpast and contact solution!

Our company has posted the ban is currently for LHR/ Us bound flights.

Looks like AA,CAL,UAL were all targeted. Thank god nothing happened.

I disagree. They're saying no liquids on domestic flights also. And I'm going to work tomorrow. I'll be damned if a pilot commuting to work in uniform can't bring my laptop, shave cream, toothpaste. There's always sick time until they get this **it figured out.

Anyone in uniform is not subject to the new TSA measures. Commute in uniform and shrug it off. Just be glad no one got blown up.

Labbats, where'd you get that info? Any idea if it matters where you're commuting from/to, more specifically, airports your airline doesn't serve....

In the U.K., passengers may only take through the airport security search point the following items in a single sealable transparent plastic bag:
· Travel documents essential for the journey (e.g. passports, tickets and visas)
· Pocket-sized wallets and pocked-sized purses plus contents (for example money, credit cards and identity cards). Handbags are not permitted
· Prescribed medicines essential for the duration of the flight, except in liquid form, unless verified as authentic
· Spectacles and sunglasses, without cases
· Contact lenses, without bottles of solution
· For those traveling with an infant: baby food, milk and sanitary items essential for the flight
· Keys (but no electrical key fobs)

Flew out of KLIT this AM and had to check my bag if I wanted to keep my stuff (toothpaste shampoo shaving cream etc) My FO and FA gave up their stuff so yes some airports are not letting working crew members bring those items onboard. this sucks.

the sad part is.. had those flights originated from the us instead of the uk, they prob would not have been caught.. I mean.. It wasn't but a year ago that a lady made it through security with a MEAT CLEAVER.. Only after she confessed to the gate agent (i believe) was the cleaver taken away.. The tsa agents excuse "we bag had a lot of stuff so it was hard to see".. I really am glad nothing happened, but we know how tsa in this country thinks they know what they are doing.. god help us..

Check with your individual companies. At mine, there has been at least 3 systemwide e-mails stating that TSA shouldn't force crewmembers in uniform to these measures. Some TSA agents haven't gotten word yet (hey, it's the government right?) and this should all be fixed by tomorrow.

TSA restrictions concerning liquids and gels including beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, toothpaste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency do not apply to working uniformed crew members in locations other than the United Kingdom.

Crew members should understand that there may be inconsistencies across the system on how TSA applies this provision in the security requirements. Flight crews should demonstrate professionalism in all TSA encounters.

The following TSA restrictions apply to all working uniformed crew members departing the United Kingdom:

Working uniformed crew members departing the United Kingdom may have no carry-on items except for the following:

a. Pocket size wallets and pocket size purses(not handbags)plus contents for example money, credit cards, identify cards)

b. Travel documents essential for the journey (for example passports and travel tickets)

c. Prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (such as a diabetic kit), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic

d. Spectacles and sunglasses (without cases) and contact lens holders without bottles of solution

e. Female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed (such as tampons, pads, towels, and wipes)

f. Tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs

g. Keys, but no electrical key fobs, and by extension, all electronic devices.

All working uniformed crew members departing the United Kingdom should check all their luggage at the ticket counter (pilots may keep their flight kit and flight attendants may keep their Inflight Manual). Crew members will be issued baggage receipts that will be used in baggage claim on arrival in the United States.

All crew members should plan on extended delays while proceeding through airport terminal areas and should allow additional time to proceed to your flights.

What? Not DAL? But I thought they were the largest airline in the world with the biggest presence in New York.

I don't know, however i would think this is one list you or DAL would not want to be on. Please feel free to contact AL Queda and have them switch companies to target.

Emails?

No one is even awake at my company yet....I don't think we'll be receiving too many emails that will help us out much this morning ;-)

Ya have to admit, it is pretty classic that the TSA still wants to limit what pilots have access to. Wouldn't want a pilot to force his way OUT of the cockpit with a pair of non rounded scissors....

My real favorite is the CASS carriers (Just a few out there) that wont let you sit in the back (with the other pax) if their CASS system is down. The gate agent tells you that you're not allowed to sit back there because you can't be CASS verified. So you pull out an ID90, now you're no longer a security threat, and down the jetway you go..... Just amazing..... What's the old adage? If stupidity were painful there would be a lot of people in constant agony? Something like that...may have referenced bureaucrats in particular...

These guys in the UK weren't caught by security screeners. They were caught by British Intelligence with the help of Pakastani officials.

I think that is a "Water Buffalo" . Old Suzuki 750, one of their first with water cooling. Not sure though.

How about it Glass?

Not sure where you got that from. American has been the largest airline since they bought TWA. But they're working real hard to undo that as they refuse to recall pilots or F/As.

First modern water cooled bike

You're right falcon! Not only the first suzuki with water but the first modern motorcycle with liquid cooling. The magazines at the time (1972) had headlines like: A radiator? On a motorcycle?

These models in good shape are quite collectible now. Mine is a '75 model; they were sold from '72 to '77. The GT750 was a 3 cylinder, 2 stroke, water cooled. By '77 the companies were all going to 4 stroke engines for better exhaust emissions.

Now back to bitch'in about the TSA!
