Well, I got my bran' new CFI 'Certificate' yesterday and was kind of disapointed with the new Credit card style.

If you haven't seen it ( I can post a pic with request) it is green with an airliner and the Wright flyer on the front, Orville and Wilber on the back. Has a small hologram on the front and the writing is in black and doesn't stand out.

Personal opinion: Don't like it.
Doesn't feel like a 'certificate' as much as a 'card' or 'licence'. Don't like the colors - I'd prefer it if it was nice and official looking like the old certificates. I think being plastic and having the hologram is probably a good thing for durability and security, but I would like it better if it still had the old design.

All that considered - still Dang happy to have it!

do you know if they are going to send them to existing pilots....i havent added a rating in 3 years. Or do i just write the FAA and request a newone? My paper one is laminated but very worn.

They won't just automatically send you the new one.

However, if all else fails, you could always send 'em the 2 bucks and say yours was lost or destroyed. Your replacement will be the new version.

What a concept! One that probably is inconceivable for a ton of pilots out there. You know the ones- they dig through the trash so they don't have to buy a .35 cent paper.......

I am assuming the FAA wants everyone to have the new & improved license, but good luck getting pilots to pay for them. LOL

:D

I'll get a picture posted tonight

The AOPA website has an article down at the bottom of the first page that has a picture of the new design.

Something tells me its not laminateable - now to find one of those ID pouch thingies so I dont have to dig out my wallet when jumpseating - since my license is on my ID necklace.

Thanks Dispatchguy

Now I dont have to hassle with a picture - AOPA

I think they could've done better. They look pretty dull.
