I am studying for my CFI and have the 1997 version of the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge. For my CFI checkride and being a CFI, should I buy the 2003 updated version?

Anyone know the differences? I would hate to be in my checkride and refer to the old version and get asked about the new one.

Yes definitely buy it. That's the FAA's book. It's almost twice as thick as the old one too. The old one was kind of "dumbed down" and the new one explains things in more detail. Good luck studying!

Have the current version of everything. It could save you a whole heap of trouble, especially if you get an anal examiner.

Besides, you want to set a good example for your fledglings. Remember your FOI. CFI'n is not just a job; it's a way of life!
