Hey All,
Went to the new FBO at Lexington today, Air51. Seriously nice joint. For a crew car they brought around a Porsche Boxster convertible - just nuts. Snooze rooms, all kinds of snacks, just a great place to stop. David there says they'll beat everyone on the field on JetA. The ramp is kinda out of the way, and taxiway D isn't marked right now, but that's how you get there. Have a look.

Only other place on the field for Jet-A is TAC-Air...you know, the massive tan hangar staring you in the face once you turn down Charlie.

What kind of aircraft did you take in there? I'm from LEX and was in there 2 weeks ago just after Air51 opened and the ramp (or at least the awning) didn't appear to be big enough for a Citation.

I gotta say I've always gotten excellent service from any TAC-Air I've gone to, and the folks at LEX have been no exception. Not sure if there was really a need for another FBO...what that airport needs is a new flight school to come in and run Arlynn off.

Oh yeah, we've never had any real trouble with TAC-Air either. I used to work for them in FSM, and we use them in AMA and OMA quite a bit. I was a bit surprised that we had changed. We've got a CJ3 in today, and it fits under the awning just fine, though the ramp space appears a bit cramped. I thought to post that initially, but the more I looked at it, the bigger it seemed. At the time there was one under the awning, and us and a G2 parked outboard of it. I understand that the 3 hangars to the NW are going to be torn down and the taxiway realligned, so that would probably help some.
Anyway, Air51 is probably worth a look, and having them on the field ought to raise the bar a little.
What's the deal with Arlynn?

I'm for any airport I go to where there is not an FBO monopoly. While we've always been treated very well at TAC, a bit of competition can keep everyone on their toes!

Hey fellows,
I am currently a captain for a regional airline working out of SDF (living in LEX). Wondering what the best start would be looking into the corporate world @ LEX or SDF. Thanks for any leads...safe flying.

Jan,

I too live in LEX and was told by a friend that YUM Brands (SDF) was looking for a pilot just two weeks ago. Do a little research about YUM. The money I heard was 6 figures starting out but if you do the research you will find a checkered past over there. I don't know about YUM's recent history as far as their aviaition dept. my contact only knew of things 6 to 8 months old. His advice STAY AWAY. Maybe somebody else on here can tell you more.Happy job hunting.

The primary corporate operators out of the Lex Vegas area that I know of are Alltech and RJ Corman. I understand that Alltech's pay is low for the Challenger (even considering the low cost of living in Central KY) and Corman's guys fly a TON...but have no first-hand experience to verify that and most my info is at least 3 years old.

There is or at least used to be a Citation X in a hanger back by Air Lexington, and a hunter green Challenger 601 or 604 that used to be operated by Wilkinson Flying Service that I think belonged to CM Newton. There are a few Citation/Lear/King Air operators on the airport also...

If you're interested in LEX-area jobs, pm ekuflyer...

As far as the Ville goes, I do believe YUM is hiring for the G200...seems like they turn over a couple guys every year. Humana at SDF also is hiring, but as I understand they already have people they want to interview scheduled this go-round. Forture 100 jobs, especially in this part of the world, are difficult to come by.

Tac air in lex, those wankers parked me out in the boonies when it was pouring rain and looked at me like i had 6 heads when i asked for a van ride to the fbo. all cause some seminole wanted to park up front. good job, now i wont top off and just min fuel outta here!
