Hello Everyone,
After a long stint outside of aviation I have finally jumped back in. I am flying for a Part 135 company in Phoenix on the Learjet 35/55. I have finished indoc yesterday and look forward in going to flight safety for learjet training.

Quick question though...

Does anyone know if a part 135 pilot can jumpseat on any airlines? I understand probably not on the flight deck but perhaps if there are open seats? Just wondering. Thanks for any info.

I think you need what is called an official reciprocal jumpseat agreement with a specified 121 carrier to J/S out, but don't quote me on that.

Generally that's true. But there are quite a few captains that will let you jump seat even if you don't have a reciprocal agreement. I've been fairly successful doing that. It's hit or miss & you have to be VERY flexible in your schedule. Also you have to be very nice and not act PO'd if they give you a hard time or don't let you on board.

Good luck I hope this helps!

Pretty much no, there may be exceptions but nowadays it's not a crew decision, it's the company policy.

Not jumpseating to Flightsafety by any chance ? that would be less than upright !!

If I go somewhere on company business then the company would pay for the travel (airlines or for mileage). As for flight safety, I will be driving down to Tucson for that so no worries. As for jumpseating, I have family in Los Angeles and it would be nice to see them a bit more often. The jumpseat would be used more for commuting purposes.

NO, just GO! which I'm sure would be scary. This is where 135 sucks a big one, not to mention a million others. Have fun though the 35 and 55 are great airplanes, what model of 55, we just got a C model which is pretty nice

Thanks everyone for your help. "Stupidpilot" which airlines have you had success with so far?
Pretty good luck with Southwest I've heard Airtran is cool. ATA was always awesome about it. Too bad they're not around. I usually gave a good sob story, "Haven't seen the wife & kids in over two weeks etc" alot of times they feel sorry for us at the bottom feeders. Sorry, it's been a while since I've jumpseated with some of these guys. Anyone else have some more current info?
