Well, I'd be willing to put my money where my mouth is and be pro active at the same time. I too agree that the current Professional Pilot magazine has lost quite a bit of its luster and think that a new mag ( read competition) may be in order. There is enough talent here and elsewhere to start up a new magazine, maybe an e zine to begin with. Like most other readers I favor the weather articles and the approach plate brain busters from Professional pilot. I believe we have enough people here to initially contribute articles and change the format to reflect the current age and technology of the todays aviation structure. I would like to see more relavent articles such as the new airspace and sid/star requirements. Also, I believe we could develop a performance section, which is most pilots achilles heal. The issues that are pressing today; for instance we could have had multiple articles explaining the new 135 A008 that has been killing many flight departments. I would like to raise this idea up the flag pole to see if there are any others who would support this idea.

Professional Pilot isn't the ONLY magazine out there for business aircraft pilots -- try AIN or B&CA or the countless other publications before jumping in the big pool. The existing pubs (sans Pro Pilot) are already covering A008 in detail, as well as the other subjects you raised. There is life beyond Pro Pilot...

I guess I got caught up in the moment and felt the same feelings that the other posters were feeling. As reasonably intelligent pilots with access to the worlds numerous aviation mags via the internet ( I read about 23 different aviation mags) I still feel a closeness to Pro Pilot. I guess it might be the access we feel we have and the articles about flying operations that hit close to home.
There is life in addition to Pro Pilot mag. To me Pro Pilot is most closely related to my flying experience. I have more of interaction between this mag vs. the other mags. While they did cover A008, I thought with the resources available to that mag, they could have done a much better job. Just my opinion. I also think that the articles have been getting very vanilla. I guess I expect more than they have been providing this past year. There have been several discussions about aircraft performance on this web site ( search "lead sled" and you will find what I think is the most succinct, indepth discussion on a/c performance that many mags and text books miss)
I guess my previous post seems like I'm whining, but I'm just looking to improve another resource.

You should start up your own website and publish your material. Look into a Content Management System (CMS) such as Joomla on a Linux server (Joomla is free, Linux servers are low cost). That will allow you to easily build your website and publish content to it. There is always room for improvement.
