There are several articles in the May 22 issue of Aviation Week on Regional airlines and on expected pilot shortfall from now to 2017. And to my surprise it appears that AIR, INC and Kit Darby were not part of this article.

Article says there will be a big need for pilots by showing a complete breakdown of supply and demand.

Let's all hope that happens...but I'm not optimistic. pilotyip's been firm on that 2007 pilot shortage thing for at least the past two years. With the projected loss of 50 seaters and mainline fighting to keep/regain 70-76 seat and up scope, I'm curious what the articles said the niche for "regional" pilots would be. Turboprops perhaps? 2.5+hr segments in an RJ aren't exactly "regional".

At least AWST is a fuzz more credible than "Jet Careers"!

When starting pay is $50K and the left seat pays $125K, then there'll be evidence of a shortage.

Let's hope the ATA doesn't send their lobbyists to DC to try to get Visas for throngs of foreign pilots because of a "shortage of qualified applicants in the US."

Foreign pilot thongs? Won't this sufferance ever end?
