Just heard this from a friend that works for ACA.

They are about to re-sign with UAL, and place an order for 35 CRJ-700's, and forget about the LCC they were going to start. They will still operate the DoJets for Delta. He said this rumor has legs, and has come from many different people, including UAL.

We'll see what happens...........

Almost anything would be better than Mesas taking over. If this prevents JO from distroying another carrier, I hope it's true.

This is getting out of control....

If this is true....JO can still continue it's diabolical plan to expand it's evil empire with the hostile takeover. I would be amazed if UAL requested us to fly the 700, especially after we spat in their face. If we sign an agreement...I'm sure UAL will be licking their chops like an executioner awaits it's victim. Now I know how the former Russian republic of Chechnya (sp) feels...

As a furloughed UAL guy, our union has sent us information about the 70 seater jets. It states that the regional airlines that fly those aircraft will have to give furloughed UAL pilots the opportunity to gain employment with that company as a pilot.

Have any UAL pilots taken this opportunity with Mesa or SkyWest and wish to comment. It seems as though that would cause a lot of frustration with seniority issues, not to mention UAL keeps furloughing every month...till who knows when.

Look at what you said " Gain Employment". That is at the bottom of the List. Not at the top. So why would it matter as far a a senority issue?

The seniority issue I am concerned with is UAL mainline pilots that will be furloughed in the future...will they then bump those who would be flying for the regionals if they decide to "flow back" (not that there is a "flow through".

at Pinnacle and Eagle DOH at the regional determines all seniority issues within the regional--no Korean Air Force action there.

It is reasonable to assume that the UAL deals will work the same.

Yeah, but...

A note on rumors: guys at Eastern used to have "rumor races." Tell an outrageous story in domicile (eg. "I hear we're going to lease four SST's from British Airways next year), then see how long it took the story to get to an outstation. Some stories moved faster than the 727...

This issue would most likely fall under the " Jets for Jobs" agreeement in which the main line pilots would be stapeled to the bottom of the regional's seniority list as FO's. But you could not apply this until all of the furloughed regional pilots were recalled first.

I'm sure our negotiating commity would never agree to allow main line pilots to fly our planes with our own pilots on furlough.

Another note. UAL has over 2000 pilots on furlough. ACA has 1600 pilots with over 140 on furlough by Jan. 2004. If we had a flow back agreement with UAL, every ACA pilot would be out on the street if such an agreement was ratified.
