I've read through all the threads and aviationinterviews.com. I just hit 2500 (I realize this doesn't make me competitive) and am finally ready to send in my application. I'm really just looking for any advice on what to do with the resume, cover letter, and application or anything else people wish they had thought of or that helped get them noticed.

You'll find lots of tips on the board here, but remember this: the whole package is an advertisement for yourself, this will be the absolute first impression anyone in recruiting has of you; the cover letter is an enticement for the recruiter to read your resume and should highlight 1-3 relevant accomplishments that may not be obvious from the resume; the resume should present the "big picture" of your career; and the application will be the fine details.

Best of luck,

In case you haven't discovered it yet, the application is available at the NetJets website for download in PDF format. Downloading it will give you the option to fill it out electronically so you won't have to debate handwriting versus typing on an old-fashioned typewriter. It also saves you in time in waiting for USPS to deliver a big envelope to you.

Another suggestion is to try, if at all possible, to get a letter of recommendation from a NetJets pilot. Having a current crewmember submitted your resume with a letter of recommendation is a big plus. People have definitely been hired without a letter of rec but having one is beneficial.

Good luck to you.

If you fill out the paper application, be sure all of the pages you send in are originals and aren't coplies. I made a copy of the entire application and accidently filled out and sent in one of the copied pages. The entire application packet was sent back to me because of that.

NetJets hires you based on your personality and your ability to get the job done and please the owners! They do not hire based on flight time or flight experience.. as long as you meet the mins you will be considered! Try getting in on your companies CRM team, or if you dont have one, start one.. I know that sure did help me get the job...

I am no Adobe wizard by any means, but I think you have to have the full Adobe software to be able to manipulate the application. If you have just the Reader, which is all I have, it comes out as a scanned document. With that being the case all you can do is print it out unless you have other software that you could copy it to in order to change things. Others who know more may be able to elaborate on that but that's how I see it.

I downloaded the application packet but Adobe won't let me type in it. I was thinking about using paint to type in all the fields, it has to be neater than my writing. Thanks for the advice everyone, I only know two or three people working there and not really well enough to ask for a rec.

If you know two or three people, talk to them about the job and see if any of them would be willing to recommend you. Until you do that, you can't really say that you don't know them enough to get a letter of rec.

If you're applying to NetJets, or any other company, make sure your resume and cover letter are consistent. I know this is basic stuff, but we had someone apply that sent a cover letter explaining how he had always wanted to fly for this particular airline and he finally felt he was at a point in his career where he was ready for such a move! (I don't work for the airline that had always been his dream job) Pretty funny.

Also, if you upload your resume online, make sure it's the correct file that you upload. I know this too is basic, but the mistake has been made!

Also make sure you have all of the mins. listed on your resume. NJA has a min of 250 instrument. If it is not on the resume they will not look at it. A lot of people forget tho put IFR time on the resume.
