Hi ALL!!!

I have a question about NetJets. The subject of this conversation has not been a career block as of yet but I still need some opinions.

The question is about DUI's. I had 2. One about 10 years ago and the other about 7. Yes, I was young and not so wise. The required FAA action was taken and the required courses were completed.

Do you guys at NJ think that I should bring this up at the interview like my current job and previous? I know they will not ask specifically about this but should I bring it up at the end of the interview?? They will find out regardless of course but I prefer to be up front and recieve a reaction from the interview team.

This is my only hold up.

I'm fully qualified for the job and know a few captains at NJ so If I took the above out of the equation the worry would go away.

Thanks ALL for your opinions.

In the interview Derinda specifically told us that she doesn't like suprises when your background investigation comes back. I think you will be better off telling them and getting it on the table . . you will feel better, and they won't have to deal with it coming up later.

Good luck,

Look at it this way...

All day, foor the most part, the interviewers ask the same questions and hear similar answers from applicants.

Talking about a skeleton is a good way to stand out in the interview... and it can be in a POSITIVE way too.

In your case a DUI is not the coolest thing to have had happen BUT it happened long ago.

I would emphasize the time that has passed, what you did to correct the problem and what you learned as a result of the experience.

No pilot is perfect... I don't care what the God Bird pilots say about their "abilities".

I agree with Derinda though. Don't leave the story as an easter egg.

Hopefully this will be the last time you ever need to tell the story.

1 is lessoned learned.
2 is a big hole to get out of.

I don't envy your position.

Isn't it going to be on your driving record? If not, they WILL find it in the background check. If you do not let them know beforehand, you can pretty much count on having the job offer rescinded when they find out. May as well be upfront about it.

Not a DUI but I balled up a PA-23 just over five years ago. In all of my interviews I have brought it up and it has always been a good discussion producer but never a problem. At NetJets I even sent in a copy of the NTSB report with my application. I got hired at ACA/Indy even when we spent the entire interview discussing it. Much better to be up front than try to back door them. I've heard of people getting yanked from indoc classes at some outfits when their background checks came back.
