Netjets and instrument time

I applied to netjets but am lacking the 250 instrument requirement. (I fly in florida and its kind of hard to build this kind of time. I ahev about 200 instrument.

I am considering taking a 172 up and fly under simulated conditions for about 30-40 hours.
I also thought about something a little more unorthodox but I wonder if I can do this.

I fly for a 121 company in a multi crew environment and I wonder if I can just fly a portion of my legs under the hood.

I dont think so as I suppose I can only do this in a training flight, but just wanted to check with you guys.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I am surprised they have that requirement on the application. I have never looked at there application so I don't know what else is on it, but in my opinion that category is very subjective by the pilot logging it. I have been with my company for 8 years and a captain for 7 1/2 of those years, and flying jets for 2 years before it. Now thats over 10 years flying jets. I also had 10 years of flying before that. I may be way at the other end of the spectrum, but I am extremely Conservative on my flight logging and in over 20 years, I only have lodged around 210 of "actual" instrument time. The way I log it is if I am in IMC and hand flying it, I will log it. Sitting there with the autopilot on for a flight threw the clouds for an hour is not my way of logging instrument time. I know some can have an equally justifiable point that they are "monitoring" the instruments all that time, and that is fine, log it. My point is some may log it conservatively like I do, and there for not meet their subjective minimums. If I were to try to go threw their process with these subjective requirements that I do not even have, they would loose out on an experienced pilot with over 20 years of aviation experience.

I feel the Having such a subjective criteria should be dropped in favor of just having objective criteria like total , multi engine, turbo prop and jet time. Let the interview sort out who is truly qualified and worthy of the job.

It s actually 250 instrument (actual and simulated). but I completely agree with what you say

My understanding is that either crew member (PIC and SIC) could log instrument time if flying in IMC with an AP since it is considered in the FAA language a "condition of flight" - just like "night."

The application package I received stated all minimums were "hard minimums". Do whatever you have to do to get them, but they're must have's. Case in point, I applied at 2460 hours. Got a no-go. Applied at 2530 and got the app.

If saviboy is right, you might just want to sit in the Sim for 30 hours. It would be a lot cheaper.

And if anyone cares, with that new information coming to light I can now qualify for the Min's if I use my Sim time.

I mhope this Company hasn't come to the realization of hiring only those who are willing to report to one of the 5 domiciles and who also meet the MINIMUMS......

How have you logged it in the past, as fake actual? You're flying by the gauges and you can ACTUALLY CRASH if you don't do it right than it's ACTUAL instrument time.
