How is it getting based in cali (lax or ont)? Does any one of them help in moving expense and what kind of time do they give you to get their? Is it doable with the pay check?

Thanks for the info

Well, read This message for starters. LAX is the only base NetJets is hiring into for the next couple of months. However, the backlog for interviews is months long, so it may take a while, but definitely apply if you meet the minimums.

If you haven't gone to it yet, go to airlinepilotcentral.com and compare for yourself. Really good info source. I would go where you know you are going to be happy. QOL is huge. However, NJA is has and will be the leader for the foreseeable future. In more ways than one. Guess who I work for?

to each is own

Don't get me wrong. I agree whole heartedly. What ever is best for you. Do a fair amount of research before you accept a position anywhere is my advise.

As far as CA? Yes NJA has a base at LAX. Moving as a new hire and pay to live in CA... Good luck. I don't know how anybody can pay to live in CA. Moving, there is a pay for move thing in the contract. But it is a one time only thing and then you are stuck more or less. Here is a link to the contract for NJA.

If I go out that way those are the two choices I am looking at, saying I would even get an interview.

So, do east coast guys buy there own ticket (SWA, etc) to commute out to LA? I'd consider that for the short term.

Yes, if you want to commute, you buy a ticket to wherever you are based (probably the night before) and when your tour (trip) is over the company will fly you wherever you want to go. The only catch is, if the ticket to fly you to your home is more than the ticket to fly you to your base, you have to pay the difference. However, east coast to west coast is an extreme commute and sounds like flame bait.

I ran my own six month simulation by plugging in different locations arround the US to my base and then to my home on Orbitz.com. It took several hours and also helped me pick the best base. Luckily my home has multiple airlines (lots of competition) so the price for tickets was slightly in my favor. So I'm going to try commuting for now. For me with airline, hotel, and transportation (not buying a crew car) I will spend, on average, $300 / month. Which is less than I paid to commute when I worked at the regionals with free jumpseats.

Hope that helps.

Nope, not flame bait. I just miss flying once in a while. I am a ground /sim instructor on the hs125 and beechjet. I am certainly going to try and see if the recruiters would consider me. I was at flops for about 6 years. I only said lax because of the quicker hiring process. pbi would be my ultimate goal (like everyone else).
