I'm an Regional f/o flying the EMJ. I need an ATP to move on out of this place.

ALL ATPS is a ripoff. $2700 plus $400 for the examiner. I'm looking to spend 3-5 hours in a light twin with an instructor and then take the checkride. I live in Dallas but can travel anywhere to knock this out in 3 days.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Isn't there a place up in Redbird that does quickie multi ratings in a bunch of old travel airs? I'm not sure if they do ATP rides, however.

You might want to check out Action Multi-ratings out of Groton, CT.

7500+ hours and you're just now getting around to the ATP?

Just curious why you hadn't gotten it much earlier.

Very simple, I have not needed it. Why spend $3000 if I don't need to? I went from the frieght world to the right seat of a Regional. Now that I want to move on from the regional, I'd like to get my ATP.

The easiest, cheapest place I've found is Sheble Aviation in Kingman, AZ. The ATP is $1950 + examiner's fee. It's a 2 day course and they will put you up in a place to live if it's available.

It's a pilot mill, the training is short, and it only lasts about 3 hours. The checkride was only about 1.4 hours. It was, however, the easiest checkride I've ever done. We flew to LAS to do ILS's, then back to IGM for a VOR with a hold at an intersection while inbound on the appch. Four questions while flying was the entire oral, direct from the 5 pages of study material they give you. Piece of cake.

Be sure to confirm everything is set up before you jumpseat out there. They can be a bit disorganized. The place is not nice. The airplanes are junk, but they fly. It's a wham, bam, thank you examiner type of place.

If you're trying to go corporate,or even 135, with that level of experience I'd just wait and do the ATP on a type ride.....I could be wrong, but I'm not sure that it's worth all that money for a resume bullet.
