Hello everyone, hope all are well. I am writting to see about the opportunity's available for future college grads to get into Navy Pilot Slots. I have heard thru talking with military pilots that the Navy is the best place to be looking rite now. I am going to hopefully have my degree done soon. OD they have any programs that will help finish college then go to school for the Navy. I am seriously considering this avenue. I have some very good experience so far and would love to help my country. Looking forward to some good advice. Please PM me if you wanna keep it quite. Thanks again. I am praying for all that may be looking at conflict soon. CYA

if you haven't already, check out Airwarriors.com
its a forum like this one devoted exclusively to Navy/USMC flying
good luck in the future

You mentioned you're working on your degree. Depending on how far along you are in college, you could look into ROTC if it's available.

Otherwise, talk to an OFFICER recruiter (not an ENLISTED recruiter). Be VERY,VERY,VERY specific about wanting a PILOT, not an NFO (Naval Flight Officer), spot. This will require you to attend the Navy Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Pensacola, FL. Get it IN WRITING that you are guaranteed a PILOT slot upon completion of OCS so you won't have to compete for one at OCS.
If you are considering going into the USAF all the above info applies except they call it OTS. Just make sure the recruiter doesn't sell you on something other than that PILOT slot.

After completing OCS you will start flight school. You have some flight time so that should help greatly at either Navy or AF flight training.

Good Luck!

There are two-year ROTC scholarships out there for folks who are about halfway toward a degree. They send you up to Newport R.I. for six weeks in the summer to make up for the stuff you missed in your first two years of college (it's a hoot, by the way). Good luck.

Beware, though. A ROTC scholarship puts you in competition with every other swinging Middy looking for that leather jacket. You could end up driving a boat just like the next guy. I would recommend kicking ass in your last two years of college and going OCS.

Thanks for all the responses. I am looking forward to getting the process going. Are there any other ways that I can get a slot without going thru ROTC? Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!

Hello McFly!!!!!!!

Sorry 'bout that. But the info was just posted right before your last. Contact your nearest Navy Recruiting District, ask to speak with the Officer Programs Officer who'll put you in touch with the Aviation Officer Programs recruiter. You can find the NRD's phone # in the white pages under U.S. Gov't, Navy.
