Hoping somebody can help me clear something up. My question is about depth perception and whether or not it is required for either NFO or enlisted Aircrew physical?

I've got a print out from NOMI's website that talks about physical exams and standards. Under officer standards it lists the exact tests and scores required for pilot/sna depth perception, then for NFO it says no depth perception required. Next for enlisted standards it lists both aircrewman for fixed wing and rotary wing and says no depth perception required.

So I took that as fact, and was kind of aiming towards NFO career. But, over the last year a few pilots/crewman I have asked about it all told me that you had to pass DP test for any flight physical. On top of that, I just asked this question on military.com forums and all responses said that you absolutely had to pass DP tests for any flight physical, and one of the posters was an HM that gives flight physicals. Would like to post this on airwarriors.com message board, but my account is unable to make posts or even message the webmaster or anybody over there for help, oh well.

Also, as of last I heard Air Force air battle managers only needed to pass a FCIII physical which doesn't require depth perception. A while ago someone said this may change, anybody know what happened with that?
thanks

What's the problem?

If you can't pass the test but you have depth perception, there's a way to train your eyes for the test.

If you want details you can do a search, or you may send me a check for 50 bucks and I'll tell you how.

I know I can't pass any of the depth perception tests, I've tried enough times to know that. What I'm trying to figure out is if it is required or not on the Navy's Class II physical for NFO. If dp is not required, then none of this is an issue for me anymore. Just wanted to see if anyone in this line of work would know off hand before going through the hassle to talk to a flight surgeon.

I've read the posts about how to improve your dp to pass the tests. I've looked at the magic eye stuff with mixed results. None of my local bookstores have this book in stock however, so haven't really studied it hardcore.

Then order the books online. Can't you land a plane, drive a car, ect. That stuff works.

Have you gone to an optometrist and tried their tests? If you can see the magic eye pics then you can pass the test.
