Not trying to brag, but just got completed the best deal I have had the privalege of participating in....

Just flew a helo down the East coast from Halifax, Canada, to Pensacola, Fl. Best deal I have had in my 9 years in the Navy.

Lots of cool things to see, so if anyone wants "gouge" on VFR East Coast flying, let me know.

Most amazing girls in Halifax, and Charelston, SC.

Thanks Navy.

hehe grew up in Hali...and I can vouch for the girls, when college is in session anyway, after that it kind of sucks.

Brag away, I would have. When I was in Pensacola instructing in the 57's, I had plans to fly up to the Halifax Air Show in Sept of 2001. I had it all lined up and then CNATRA came down and said "No" to any and all of their little orange and white aircraft who wanted to fly up... and they never gave a reason. I was severely bummed. But, I still made it up to New York that weekend. A little painful in the 57 with 2 students, but a trip I will certainly never forget.

At the time, I was looking forward to the Nursing students and all you can eat crab parties that I hear they throw at the airshow (or was it the all you can eat nurses and student crabs...).

Went to the airshow there two years ago. Great time. I'd still rather fly up in a T-6 than a helo. BMD

Not to be difficult, we did that show in '01 with a couple orange & whites. CNATRA tried to squash it b/c of water temp/ejection concerns, but we flooded his staff with water/wind/glide ride data that would have confused a scientist. A good time definately until the following weeks events stranded us for a while.

BMD... the things I got away with in the helo could NEVER have been done in the T-6. All legal, but nevertheless...

Now, that being said, it was a 22 hour flight back, but well worth it.

Glad to hear that someone made it!! I was the only one that was willing to make the attempt it in the TH-57, so I did not have a lot of support. Wish I had known that they let some go back then. But then again, life would be a lot different for me if I had made it all the way up to Halifax. As it turns out I ended up getting stuck in ACY on the way home on the 10th and met my wife over the following days. So I can't really say things did not work out after all.
