Just purchased an ipod and I would like to hook it into my headsets and listen to ATC, and the other guy, when we fly. Any advice?

Sporty's sells the Headset Companion Audio Interface that sells for $99. I bought the same thing from someone else for the same price.
Works great, it doesn't mute the music when ATC or when the intercom keys up and that's what I liked about it. I can set my IPOD at a nice level and hear both ATC and music without it being distracting.

Just stick the ear buds in your ear and wear the heasets over them. Set the volume on the Ipod so that you can hear the comm and intercomm over the music and you're all set.

I've tried the plug ins where it runs the music through the headset and cuts the music off when there is a comm transmission and it's pretty annoying. I've never had a problem seperating the music from the communications- it's like having the radio on in your car, the music just blends into the background when you're talking.

Has anyone just used a Y adapter from radio shack? Cheap, but I'm not sure how the different voltages works out. Or if it would do damage to the radios or more importantly my ipod.

yeah it doesn't work for crap. It does weird stuff to the other guys radios.

Stick the buds in!! Cheap and easy, and I have no problems with the headsets over them. May I suggest some James Brown! Good flying music!

stick the buds in and get yourself an XM Radio.

The y adapter works well, get an aviation specific one. I got one at a audio shop for 10 bucks in COI and then bought the 1/4 to 1/8th adapter at radio shack. It doesn't cut off when someone talks over the radio and really helps on long boring flights.
