Could someone let me know if the multi time required for the regionals is PIC time or does the dual received prior to your rating count into it ?

I did some flying prior to getting my multi rating with instructors in some turbine aircraft such as a BE200 and MU2. I never had any of the instructors endorse my logbook so I guess I shouldnt have it in my logbook. Would having this in there help me or hurt me in the interview?

Thanks for any advice...

Well in the interview they might ask you systems questions based on the most complex airplane you flew.

For my interview they had us fill out a form that let them know what our most complex ME was and all that good stuff. Some companies, on the other hand, might just go through your logbook while the HR portion is going on and then determine what the most complex A/C is and ask you based on that A/C.

If you weren't rated for it and the instructor didn't sign off your logbook it doesn't count. You can leave it in your book for giggles but I wouldn't use that time to meet any kind of requirement.

second on the above. If you were flying with an MEI in the aircraft and they endorsed it, then count it as total multi and ddual received. If no endorsement, no logged time if not qualified. I had BE200 time when I interviewed (flying with an instructor), but I was not qualified in the aircraft yet, so my "most complex" aircraft was still a seminole and that is what I answered questions on.

How do you have that time logged, if there is no instructor signature then it's not dual given.. and certainly don't claim it as PIC.

With the low hours that many regionals are accepting these days, if you really need 1 or 2 extra hours to meet the minimums, suck it up and rent a seminole

Mine was 3 years ago as dual received when regionals still req'd 500/25 as minimums (still low). The other pilot was an instructor and logged it as DR. Nowadays, heck yeah, don't risk it and rent a seminole for 5+ hours. The higher cost will offest itself with a higher paying job in the first year as opposed to flight instructing.

Thanks for the advice . I flew right seat about seven or eight years ago when I had no ambition to fly for a living so I just added it to my log and never got the entries signed by the MEI.

Any idea how to explain the entries in an interview. I am not using the time towards the minimums required.

just keep your day job

It won't be an issue if you don't include it into your total multi time. They might even be impressed you had enough common sense not to claim it.

This is perhaps not good advice. Depending on where you instructed, you might very well make more as a CFI than your first year as a regional FO. Don't go into the hole any more than you have to.

Find an MEI, or better yet, get a commercial multi rating, and go get the time at the cheapest option available. If it's riding gear b!tch for a rich guy with a C421, so be it. Don't put yourself further in debt than necessary.

Yup. Say:

"I flew some in a King Air and a MU-2, but wasn't able to log it."

Thanks, I already have an ATP AMEL but am right at 90 hours ME.

Your right there are three outfits here that pay mid forties to instruct but I did over 2K doing that.

I guess Im just gonna have to rent a Duchess or Seminole for a few more hours...

if you are 3k total time and at 90 hours of multi time, and you don't get the job because you are 10 hrs shy of 100, then the issue won't be solved by blowing 2 grand on renting

I was under the impression you
were one of the guys with 22 hours multi... With all the concessions the regionals are making, I doubt most will tell you "come back when you have the whole 100"

Save your money.... you'll need it

Not that it matters much... any chance you could look up the guys you flew with... and have them sign the entry? It would then be legit, and no questoins asked

Most of the airlines Im looking at have 100 ME as minimums. You think I could just apply with 90 and it wouldnt be an issue?

Iagree I really dont want to spend the extra money unless I really have to.
