helluvan effort to put it in that field.

last radar track had him at 17.5k doing 180kts. Anybody know any reason to go so slow at 17.5?

Hopefully this isn't another throw a kid in with 1200hrs into a pilot killer as the MU2. Anybody who has seen how much the blade covers the wing when it's stops will know.

The MU has allways been the ultimate high performance airplane.

MU-2

God that sucks. Man I love the MU2 I get to sit right seat in one sometimes. I would not fly one with me as PIC and with out Gorge (the guy that owns it, Gorge is his pilot) with under 2,000 hours no question. They fly just like a jet im told. The thing that gave the MU2 a bad rap is low time pilots getting in and flying off, and never comming back. I feel bad for the guy and his family

Great Pilot. Vary good friend of mine he will be missed dearly.

He worked for Royal Air Freight out of PTK for a about 6 years. He was typed in Lear Jet. His name was Brian

Anyone interested his services will be held at Lake funeral home in Ionia, MI. For info call or check web site: www.lakefuneralhomes.com

Really, really sad.
If I may guess at all as to what the cause might have been I would be tempted to say an inflight prop-reverse?

According to witnesses it spun in and looking at some pics it definately looks like it had hardly any forward speed.

Didn't the mu-2 had that happen a couple of times before.

It most certainly couldn't have been pilot error; nobody "falls out of the sky" from that altitude.
Just curious to find out what in the world you can possibly do if you can do anything at all if it would happen; fuel cut-off? But then again, I have no clue of how violent it is.

That was just a GS readout and is quite possible if he were flying into a strong headwind.

Brian was a friend of mine, too. He was my roomate for a while and was the guy that helped me get my first flying job. He was a very experienced and competent pilot who will be missed.:(

Brian was a friend of mine, and a great guy. Probably one of the most skilled pilots I have ever known and have ever gotten to fly with. If there is anyone who could have righted that bad situation, it would have been him.

We are all going to miss him! Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
