I'd like to solicit the advise of anyone who has an opinion on the following:

If you were a two-thousand hour 135 pilot all VFR/PIC with very little multi with no chance of advancement into multi. Would you be inclined to stick around and continue to build time... or would you go out and beat the bush and find a multi-job or work in a non-flying job that had access to a multi????

It's always easier looking for a job while you have a job. If you quit and go 6-12 months without finding a full time flying job, it will only hurt your future chance, IMHO.

Stay employed

You never, ever want to leave a job in which you're flying real airplanes unless it is for another job in which you're flying real airplanes. In other words, yes, you should look for something at which you can build multi, even as an MEI, but don't just quit and start looking.

There are a lot of "everythings" in this business; currency is one of them. You want to keep flying.

Good luck with your efforts.

"It's always easier looking for a job while you have a job."

Your absolutely right about that... Unfortunately, these days even if you have a job it's almost impossible. So in conclusion I sure as heck wouldn't leave without having something else...

That is if you can find something else.

Depends upon what you want to do?

If you like flying airplanes and you can live on what you make flyng airplanes, you stay in the job where you can fly airplanes. Logging Turbin PIC is not the worst thing in the world when it comes to looking for a job. As you build time you will become more attractive to companies looking for pilots. There are jobs out there, do a search under Kalitta Charters, they are hiring MEL Turbo Jet pilots. The economy will recover in the future and jobs will start appearing in big number s again around late 2005 2006, and the majors that still exisit will start hiring around 2007. Until then keep flying airplanes and make sure you have your next job before you quit. Also there is nothing like senority at a company making a profit for job security. If you don't really like flying airplanes, Home Depot is always looking for sales people.
